The Michelin company was founded in 1889. The tires of this manufacturer are not cheap, however, this cost is fully justified. Currently, the company occupies a leading position among manufacturers of various tires.

A long time ago, at a factory owned by Eduard Michelin, a bicycle suddenly appeared that needed to repair a flat, solid tire. In just three hours, Eduard himself made a unique inflatable tire. The rubber dried completely in six hours. After the first test of the product, it became clear that the bicycle had excellent ride quality and a very soft ride. Immediately, Eduard Michelin realized that he had come up with a simple and quick way to repair bicycle tires. After that, he registers a patent called the "removable tire". Starting from 1891, bicycles with such tires began to win in bicycle races. And a year later, about 10,000 bicycles were equipped with tires from this manufacturer. When the first car was released in 1895, everyone knew that Michelin wheels would be used on it.

Initially, the basis of the pneumatic tire used a textile cord, its threads were intertwined crosswise. As a result of research conducted by the company in 1946, it was possible to obtain tires of a new radial type with a metal cord. This was a breakthrough in tire production. The resulting tires were distinguished by a long service life, ensured reduced rolling resistance, which allowed to reduce fuel consumption while driving. But it became very difficult to develop a technology for creating such tires in large quantities.

The technology developed by the company was a major achievement in the tire industry, it was equivalent to the creation of pneumatic tires for car tires. And only in 1951, on October 24, Michelin received a French patent for a unique radial tire with a metal cord, created using the updated technology.

Then several large companies that manufacture tire products bought a license from the company to manufacture these tires. And in 1997, the manufacturer again excelled, now it has created a completely new rubber "Pax". It is installed on a disc with a cylindrical, maximally flat rim. Inside the tread, there is an air pressure sensor and a special internal elastic insert to prevent air leakage. Due to this, the tire with the rim forms a single whole.

At the present time, the company is conducting research using solid tires, as a result of which they want to replace rubber with new polymeric materials. Perhaps in the near future, the company will again achieve amazing results and make a third breakthrough in the tire industry.

This company was known in Russia as far back as 1907, when the famous Moscow - St. Petersburg race was held, which was created for the 1st international automobile exhibition (in St. Petersburg). In the competitions held, A. Dürre (France) won on a "Loren-Ditrich" car equipped with tires from the famous company.

At the present time, in Russia, almost every owner of cars, both passenger and cargo, knows this manufacturer, whose tires are distinguished by excellent ride parameters and high quality.
