Description Michelin X LT A/S
All-season tire is designed for pickups and SUVs. Adapted for operation on asphalt roads. In such conditions, it is versatile in application, as it provides excellent stability and stability, regardless of road surface characteristics. This model also features such "signature" features of French brand products as high mileage and smooth comfortable ride even on rough roads.
The tread pattern has a non-directional symmetric design. The key feature is the presence of an increased number of individual elements. In the central part, they are made in the form of quadrangles, unfolded parallel to the direction of movement. The three wide ribs formed in this way reduce rolling resistance and increase directional stability, especially at high speeds. The transverse edges of the central blocks have a curved shape, which, by increasing their length, improves longitudinal grip on slippery surfaces.
The shoulder blocks are distinguished by increased sizes and a trapezoidal shape in the side projection. Such design features provide elements with resistance to deformation while increasing the contact patch. As a result, when maneuvering, a high force and stability of grip are achieved, and when braking, the intensity of deceleration is increased and the risk of longitudinal skidding is reduced.
Another important feature of the tread pattern is the presence of a large number of lamellas. These elements are located at a distance of a few millimeters from each other and have a sinusoidal shape. As a result, in the contact patch, a large number of elongated and very sharp edges are formed, which the tire literally bites into the slippery road surface from snow and ice. On wet surfaces, the lamellas also increase the resistance to aquaplaning, directing water to one of the nearby drainage grooves.
The tread part of the tire is made of a rubber compound, the properties of which were specially selected. The modern polymers contained in its composition increase the strength of the compound on rupture and stretching, due to which the tread retains its integrity, both under mechanical and thermal influence. In turn, the increased content of silicon dioxide, presented in the form of the finest dispersion, gives the tire elasticity at low temperatures, helping it to maintain stable grip with the road surface in such unfavorable conditions.
Main features of Michelin X LT A/S
- blocks unfolded parallel to the movement in the central part reduce rolling resistance, increase directional stability;
- increased shoulder zones with rigid blocks increase traction on snow, reduce braking distance, improve transverse stability during maneuvering;
- rubber compound with special polymers and silicon dioxide improves all basic driving qualities on slippery surfaces;
- numerous sinusoidal slots improve longitudinal grip on winter surfaces, increase resistance to aquaplaning.
