Michelin Primacy 4 Selfseal

The Michelin Primacy 4 Selfseal summer tire is a modification of the same model for passenger cars. It differs from the "original" with increased reliability due to its ability to self-seal small punctures. The manufacturer offers it as an alternative to Run-Flat technology tires that is no less efficient.

The key feature of the tire is the presence of a 3 mm thick layer of special material based on natural rubber on the inside. In the event of a puncture, the viscous substance seals the hole with a diameter of up to 6 mm, hardening when in contact with air. As a result, the tire's seal is restored, allowing the vehicle to continue moving.

The tread pattern features an increased volume of drainage grooves. This significantly reduces the risk of aquaplaning. When the tread is worn, this ability is largely preserved. Some of the longitudinal grooves have a narrowing profile towards the base, which further increases the water-repelling ability of these elements. Another significant advantage of the tire is its improved traction on wet surfaces and increased mileage. These properties are largely achieved due to the characteristics of the rubber compound. The compound includes special polymer substances that have allowed increasing the level of silica content, the strength of the rubber compound for rupture and stretching, and its uniformity.
