DescriptionDescription Michelin Energy E3A
The Michelin Energy E3A summer tire, belonging to the category of so-called energy-efficient tires, is designed primarily for car enthusiasts who value comfort but also want to save on fuel consumption. This model is released in several dozen sizes and can be installed on passenger cars of various classes with a wheel seating diameter of 14 to 16 inches. At the same time, the tire has fairly high speed indices T, H, and V for its category, which testifies to its high technical characteristics, not only excellent energy efficiency.
Tread Design
The French tire manufacturers faced a difficult task in achieving excellent fuel economy and a long service life without causing significant harm to other key characteristics that directly affect safety. Therefore, this model is equipped with a tread featuring an asymmetric directional pattern design. The tread is distinguished by a reduced number of longitudinal ribs, only three, which is one of the design solutions aimed at reducing rolling resistance. And this indicator, as is known, directly depends on fuel efficiency. In essence, the Michelin Energy E3A tire tread consists of two very wide shoulder zones and one longitudinal rib located in its center.
The central longitudinal rib is a series of separate blocks with a quadrangular shape, spaced at a small distance from each other. Thanks to this, as well as the transverse arrangement of the blocks relative to the direction of movement, it was possible to ensure high braking efficiency and excellent directional stability.
The shoulder zones of the tread are distinguished by an increased width, which provides reliability and stability when cornering. Additionally, their rounded profile allows for more effective resistance to deformations caused by strong lateral accelerations. This significantly reduced the risk of uneven wear and, therefore, substantially extended the tire's service life, aligning with the concept that the developers of this tire adhered to.
Another characteristic feature of this model is the special lamellas with which all tread blocks are equipped. Thanks to their special design, these lamellas remain mobile at the moment of contact between the tread and the road surface. This capability allows these tread elements to remove water from the contact patch, working similarly to windshield wipers. Furthermore, during their operation, these lamellas create a zone of increased tire adhesion to the surface, acting like a regular sucker.
Special Compound of the Rubber Mixture
The composition of the rubber mixture was selected with the aim of providing maximum durability of the tread and reduced rolling resistance. To achieve this, the rubber mixture includes sulfur, latest-generation polymers, and silicon-containing components. All this, in combination, made it possible to ensure not only exceptional resistance of the tread to wear but also its elasticity. In motion, the Michelin Energy E3A tire demonstrates excellent adhesion, especially on wet surfaces, which was achieved thanks to its excellent elasticity, allowing the tread to closely envelop all road surface irregularities.
In wet conditions, the effectiveness of the drainage system plays a huge role in ensuring safety, as it depends on the tire's resistance to aquaplaning. With this indicator, the Michelin Energy E3A model is in good standing. Its drainage system, consisting of three longitudinal and numerous transverse grooves, easily handles the removal of almost any amount of water from the contact patch. Such efficiency of the water drainage system was achieved through a series of design solutions. In particular, the longitudinal drainage grooves have massive sizes capable of accommodating a significant amount of water, which is then directed outward through the transverse channels. At the same time, the transverse drainage grooves are made in a curved form, which, by eliminating the possibility of swirling, significantly increases the speed of water circulation.
Main Features of the Michelin Energy E3A Tire
- Optimized asymmetric directional tread pattern design provides the best adhesion and handling characteristics in the class of energy-efficient tires;
- Excellent braking efficiency, especially in wet conditions, thanks to the block structure of the central longitudinal rib, whose blocks are equipped with special lamellas of a patented shape;
- Exceptionally high fuel economy indicators are ensured by reduced rolling resistance;
- A carcass reinforced with a double metal cord allowed for a significant improvement in the stability of the tread shape, which substantially increased the service life.

If we take Michelin made in France, many of the problems described here disappear on their own. I drove on Michelin 185/70R14 made in France for 7 years, 80,000 km, with 2-3mm of tread left. After the tread was worn off by 50%, the tread started to hit the pavement harder at the joints, probably because it wore down to a harder rubber composition. The combination of different rubber compounds in the tire, a hard

I've driven on these ... 60,000! Can't even call it a tire! The tire is a complete crap! It loses traction on puddles, makes more noise than winter studded tires, is stiff, and after the 2nd season it was barely balanced! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!! It's better to ride on a wheel rim than on this crap!

Super
Just bought, noisy at speeds below 60, quieter afterwards. Handling is above all praise, didn't even think that VAZ-21124 could hold the road so well at speeds of 160-170 km/h, previously had Bridgestone Turanza GR-80, Michelin is better. From the factory, it had KAMA-217, a complete waste.
