Description Michelin Energy E3B-1
The Michelin Energy E3B-1 summer tire was specifically designed for compact passenger cars. According to the French manufacturer, this model can save around 300 liters of fuel over its lifetime.
One of the key features of this model is the unique asymmetric tread pattern design, which features only three longitudinal ribs, two of which are shoulder zones. The central rib is located in the center of the tread, with one half having a rigid and solid structure, and the other half divided into separate blocks with lamellas on the surface. This solution has achieved excellent directional stability and high acceleration and braking efficiency, which is provided by the central rib blocks.
Another distinctive feature of the Michelin Energy E3B-1 model is the design of the shoulder zones of the tread, which allows for optimal adaptation of the contact patch when cornering, providing stable and reliable traction on both dry and wet roads. At the same time, the two-layer metal cord prevents lateral displacement of the breaker layer, which significantly reduces the deformation of the tread caused by the effect of lateral accelerations when cornering. This solution, combined with the rounded profile of the shoulder zones, minimizes the risk of uneven wear, which leads to a reduction in the life of the tire.
The "Energy" prefix in the tire's name refers to the very low rolling resistance, which allows for a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 5% when driving on the highway and up to 3% in the city.
