The Michelin Pilot Sport PS4 SUV summer tire is designed for the most dynamic versions of crossovers and SUVs. Structurally, it is a special version of the same "passenger" model, adapted to the heavy weight and high center of gravity of all-wheel drive vehicles.

Handling Accuracy

Most of the technological solutions used in this model were previously applied to the same tire for passenger cars, where they proved themselves from the best side. One of them is the Dynamic Response technology, which gives the handling process speed and accuracy. It involves adding an additional cord made of nylon and aramid fibers to the carcass. Such a hybrid structure, having a low weight and high rigidity, serves as a kind of "substrate" for the tread part of the tread, limiting the mobility of elements in contact with the road surface. As a result, when maneuvering, speed and accuracy are added, and when moving in a straight line, directional stability is added.

Stability of Traction Properties

In the side projection, the tread part of the tread has a variable curvature. This increases the size of the contact patch and further increases the stability of its shape and size under the influence of multidirectional acceleration forces. As a result, the reliability of the traction properties is improved, regardless of the road conditions and driving mode, and the uneven wear of the tread part of the tread is reduced.

Special Rubber Compound

The tread part of the tread is made of a rubber compound specifically developed for this model. It has a unique composition, which includes hydrophobic silicon dioxide, which significantly enhances traction on wet surfaces. In turn, functional elastomers, acting on the compound at the molecular level, adapt the tire to various driving modes, improving traction, reducing rolling resistance, and heat generation.

Low Risk of Aquaplaning at Any Speed

The tread part of the tread has a well-developed and diverse drainage system. On the inside, the longitudinal grooves are increased in size, which further reduces the risk of aquaplaning when driving in a straight line. Similar elements on the outside, due to their location, additionally enhance cross-stability when maneuvering on wet surfaces.
