Description Michelin Energy E3B
The Michelin Energy E3B summer tire is one of the most successful representatives of the famous "energy-efficient" family of models from the French tire giant. Like all other tires in the Energy line, this model is distinguished by excellent fuel efficiency and wear resistance.
Inheriting from its predecessor, the E3A model, this tire has an asymmetrical directional tread pattern, which features a number of original design solutions. First of all, the novelty was distinguished by a radically increased number of tread edges, which made it possible to significantly improve the braking efficiency, especially on wet asphalt. However, this did not lead to an increase in fuel consumption, since the numerous sharp edges of the tread blocks are located at a carefully calculated angle relative to the direction of movement. Thanks to this, the French tire manufacturers were able to maintain the rolling resistance at the same exceptionally low level, while significantly improving the handling characteristics.
It is also worth noting the significant increase in resistance to aquaplaning. This was achieved thanks to the presence of a large number of longitudinal and transverse drainage channels. The longitudinal drainage grooves located in the center of the Michelin Energy E3B tire are designed to collect water, and the transverse ones are designed for quick removal from the contact patch. At the same time, the transverse channels have a curved shape, which significantly increases the speed of water circulation by preventing the formation of vortices.
To increase the wear resistance of the tread, the tire's carcass has two additional metal cord layers. Due to this, the tire's resistance to deformation has increased significantly, which, in turn, has minimized the possibility of uneven wear. The result of this innovation was an increase in the tire's service life.
The main features of the Michelin Energy E3B summer tire
- The original asymmetrical design of the tread pattern provides excellent handling, both on dry and wet roads;
- Two longitudinal grooves and numerous transverse channels with a curved shape provide excellent drainage;
- The increased number of tread blocks improves traction, especially on slippery surfaces;
- A long service life is ensured by the high structural rigidity of the carcass, which effectively resists deformations.
