DescriptionDescription Michelin Latitude Alpin
The Michelin Latitude Alpin winter tire, designed for high-performance vehicles, is perfectly suited for use in weather conditions where frost often alternates with thaw and vice versa, as evidenced by the M+S marking.
To a large extent, the design of the symmetrical directional tread pattern of the tire can be called unique, thanks to a number of interesting technical solutions. In particular, the tread pattern is equipped with a drainage system consisting of numerous widened grooves, which allows for effective removal of not only water but also slush and mud from the tire's contact patch. Thanks to this solution, the tire provides safe movement even in very unfavorable weather conditions.
The central part of the tread features a very original design. In essence, this part of the Michelin Latitude Alpin tire tread is a very wide longitudinal rib, consisting of individual blocks made in the shape of the Latin letter "V". This has made it possible to ensure, on the one hand, excellent directional stability for the tire, and on the other hand, even distribution of load across the contact patch. At the same time, traction is provided by numerous edges, both of the blocks themselves and of the S-shaped lamellas located on their surface, which cover the entire tread of the tire. In addition, due to these self-locking lamellas, the rigidity of all tread elements is increased, which has added sports features to the handling characteristics.
The shoulder areas of the tread are also equipped with lamellas, but consist of individual blocks that resemble a milling cutter in appearance. These blocks allow the tire to confidently overcome deep snow drifts, where these blocks work like powerful traction devices.
Main features of the Michelin Latitude Alpin tire
- excellent traction in the most unfavorable weather conditions is provided by the optimized V-shaped design of the symmetrical directional tread pattern;
- effective operation of the drainage system, capable of draining not only water but also slush, mud, and sand;
- excellent traction characteristics on snow, thanks to the V-shaped blocks located in the central part of the tread.

The aquaplaning surprise - is almost nonexistent - quiet and smooth even on small rocks, there is no sensation of shock, so it's soft and comfortable, although the rubber feels a bit rough.
