The target audience of the Michelin Pilot Sport PS4 Acoustic Vol summer tire is the same as that of previous generation models. They are the owners of sports and premium modifications of modern passenger cars. It differs from other models of the brand in its excellent handling and traction, often at the expense of other consumer properties. Its essence lies in the addition of a breaker to the tire, which is a mesh of intertwined aramid and nylon threads, located throughout the tread area. This component allows for the instantaneous transmission of multidirectional acceleration forces to the bearing elements of the tire's design, giving its reactions to steering wheel turns speed and accuracy. This property is further enhanced by the optimized shape of the tread profile. In any conditions, the contact area with the road surface is maximum and unchanged.

Safety in rainy conditions

In addition to the large contact area with the road, the tire's tread is distinguished by its ability to closely fit even the smallest irregularities on its surface. This is achieved exclusively by the physical properties of the compound, three-quarters of which are "silica". Its content was increased without compromising wear resistance and reliability. The functional elastomers included in the composition give the tread excellent resistance to abrasion, tears, and stretching. This guarantees its integrity throughout the calculated mileage, even if a large part of it was spent driving at high speeds.

The tread pattern also makes a significant contribution to ensuring traction properties on wet surfaces. It contains several longitudinal grooves, the width of which has been significantly increased compared to the previous model.

Smooth ride and short braking distance

Unlike similar models from competitors, the French tire manufacturers managed to provide both sporty handling and high braking efficiency, while maintaining comfort at a more than decent level. To a large extent, this is due to the tread pattern, many of whose elements have a dual functional purpose. In particular, the wide blocks of the shoulder zones have beveled edges. Such a seemingly insignificant solution turned out to be enough to significantly reduce the level of noise and vibrations, while giving the tire a soft, comfortable ride. At the same time, the effectiveness of the blocks' operation during braking was high. The French manufacturer claims a difference of more than 1.2 meters in the length of the braking distance compared to most sports tires from other leading brands.
