Description Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3
The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 winter passenger tire was specifically designed for high-speed and sports cars, and is characterized by increased steering precision and excellent response to steering wheel turns in winter conditions. This model is produced in several dozen of the most common sizes, ranging from 205/55R16 to 295/35R20, which indicates an exceptionally wide range of applications for this tire, which also has a speed index of W, allowing operation at speeds of up to 270 km/h.
One of the key features of the directional tread pattern of the tire is the asymmetric design, which largely provides phenomenal operating characteristics on various types of surfaces. At the same time, unlike other asymmetric tires, the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 model differs in its original approach to ensuring controllability on slippery roads. The outer part of the tread ensures excellent grip on dry surfaces, improving handling, and the inner part - when driving on snowy and icy surfaces.
Such versatility of the tire is due, first of all, to the original scheme of the Stabiligrip lamellas located on the inner side of the tread. The combination of lamellas with variable thickness with directional lamellas allows the tire to demonstrate confident behavior when driving on snow. The lamellas located on the outer side of the tread have a smaller thickness and are designed to provide resistance to lateral skidding when cornering.
The French tire manufacturers perfectly understood the enormous influence that the quality of the rubber compound has on the main working characteristics of the tire. Therefore, sunflower oil was used in its composition. As a result, it was possible to ensure excellent elasticity even at low temperatures.
