DescriptionDescription Michelin Latitude X-Ice
Winter non-studded tire Michelin Latitude X-Ice is designed for SUVs, crossovers, and other passenger vehicles belonging to the SUV category. This model is distinguished by a wide range of sizes, with several dozen options with mounting sizes from 15 to 18 inches. At the same time, several sizes have an increased load index.
This model is equipped with a classic winter tire tread with a V-shaped symmetrical directional pattern. This arrangement of tread elements allows the tire to demonstrate the greatest efficiency on slippery surfaces, especially on snow and ice. The excellent traction characteristics of the Michelin Latitude X-Ice tire are due, first of all, to the large contact patch area, which is literally abundant with a large number of sharp gripping edges. They were able to obtain this by equipping the tread with numerous individual blocks grouped into six longitudinal ribs. At the same time, the edges of the blocks located in the central part of the tread are directed at an angle of approximately 45 degrees relative to the direction of movement. This arrangement provides high efficiency of acceleration not only on snow but also on other surfaces with a low coefficient of friction.
In contrast to the central part, the shoulder tread blocks are arranged at a right angle to the direction of movement. In this case, this arrangement of the shoulder blocks provides more effective braking, especially on ice and snow.
Another feature of this model is the use of the advanced Stabiligrip tread lamination technology. Within the framework of this technology, it is provided to equip the tread with a multitude of lamellas of two types – with variable geometry and bidirectional lamellas. This combination allows, due to the increase in the rigidity of the blocks, to equip the tread with an increased number of sharp gripping edges, as well as to improve handling on dry roads. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent traction and handling on any type of surface.
Main features of the Michelin Latitude X-Ice tire
- A rubber compound specially developed for use in harsh climatic conditions provides excellent elasticity even at very low temperatures;
- A symmetrical directional tread pattern with a V-shaped design allows the tire to demonstrate excellent performance on snow and ice;
- High efficiency of the drainage system, which perfectly copes with the removal of water and heavy masses of thawed snow from the contact patch.

The tire is mediocre. It's comfortable, not too noisy, but in the winter it's like driving on a summer tire. The car doesn't skid, but when speeding above 50 on a snow-covered road, it starts to slide. On ice and dry snow, I feel more confident. Driving on wet roads is also scary. I wouldn't buy this one again. This was my first Michelin tire and my opinion of it is not very good. I previously used winter Dunlop

The tire is not noisy, but it holds the road poorly, vibrates at speed
Tires are not for Russian roads, even with moderate driving and a loaded body, 4 * 4 saves mainly. At 120, it starts to beat the steering wheel, although the car has a mileage of 6,000 km, and it has been to the tire shop 2 times, the disks are even, the tires and the car are new. When braking on a snowy road

Drove for two seasons. Size 235/70R16. Overall impression - very positive. Classic good non-studded tyres: quiet, on packed snow no worse than many studded tyres, on clean ice - bearable (non-studded are obviously worse than studded), but all-wheel drive saves the day. Seriously thinking of acquiring them for my next car.
