The second-generation car debuted only in 2020. It had no connection with its predecessor, as it represented an export version of the fourth-generation Harrier crossover, which was previously offered on the domestic Japanese market. Unlike the Venza of the 2000s, its concept did not imply existence at the junction of two classes - station wagons and crossovers. This time, the car in the brand's model range occupied a place between the RAV4 and Highlander, using the modular GA-K platform, which it shared with the same RAV4, as well as the Camry sedan. At the same time, the crossover lost in dimensions compared to its predecessor, becoming shorter and narrower. In terms of wheelbase, it turned out to be 85 mm smaller. The GA-K platform implied the use of a fairly simple chassis with "MacPherson" struts at the front and a "multi-link" at the rear. It is supplemented by an electronic ACA system, which prevents the occurrence of front axle skidding when braking and cornering. In essence, the only difference from the version for the Japanese market is the power unit - a hybrid installation. It consists of an in-line "atmospheric" 4-cylinder engine with a volume of 2.5 liters, a traction electric motor, and a variator, which transmit torque to the front axle. On the rear axle, there is an additional electric motor, with the help of which the all-wheel drive system is implemented. The total power at peak reaches 222 horsepower. Another component of the power plant is the battery, located in the niche under the second-row seats. It is charged exclusively from the starter-generator with the function of regenerating electrical energy. Moreover, it works in conjunction with the satellite navigation system, which remembers the braking sections and during subsequent trips pre-activates the regeneration mode.
