The changes affected, first of all, the exterior, in which there was much more chrome-plated decor, complex changing direction in all three projections of faces and lines. New headlights and "fog lights" appeared. In technical terms, the car differed in a modernized platform with adhesive connections between elements, which made the body more resistant to bending and torsion, positively affecting handling and acoustic comfort. Another innovation was the appearance under the hood of an updated version of the gasoline V6, developing 301 liters. s. and 361 Nm, as well as an 8-speed automatic transmission. The equipment was distinguished by the presence, already in the "base", of a complex of electronic systems to help the driver Toyota Safety Sense of the second iteration with the function of automatic braking in front of pedestrians and cyclists, keeping in the lane and recognizing road markings and signs.

Third generation

In mid-2023, the premiere of the third-generation minivan took place, which completely preserved the concept and "focus" on the internal Japanese market. This affected the shape of the body, which acquired cut-off forms in the side projection, losing the "firm" for this model "fins" in the window openings of the sliding doors. In technical terms, the key innovation was the transition to a modular platform GA-K, its modified version, adapted to the features of a single-volume body. It is worth noting that hardly the only technical difference between this model and Alphard is an additional spacer in the front, which increases the accuracy of control and directional stability at high speed.

No less significant changes occurred in the salon. It is distinguished by a "floating" central tunnel at a great height, into which a wide-format "tablet" of the multimedia system with a diagonal of 12.3 inches is integrated. Already in the standard configuration, there is a virtual instrument panel, a 7-seat salon with "captain's" chairs in the second row and a "gallery" for three passengers, which folds vertically, located along both sides.
