The Toyota Tacoma is a pickup truck from the Japanese manufacturer that began its history in 1995. Initially, it was released as a compact car, and then it became a full-fledged pickup truck oriented towards the North American market. In this region, the car has demonstrated steady growth in sales over many years and is currently among the top ten in its segment.

1st Generation

The novelty appeared on the American market in 1995. The car was positioned not as a cargo vehicle, but rather as a family car. Therefore, the focus was on comfort in the cabin and handling. Payload capacity and off-road capability were secondary.

As power units, gasoline engines with volumes of 2.4, 2.7, and 3.4 liters were used, with a power of 142, 150, and 190 horsepower, respectively. The pickup truck was equipped with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, as well as options for a manual or automatic transmission.

Until 2004, the car underwent two modifications, which added a four-door cabin to the list, as well as a large number of body color options (26 variants).

2nd Generation

The new generation Tacoma increased in size. In addition, the manufacturer presented 18 of its modifications, among which there were only 3 types of cabins - single, double, and extended, and two bases - standard and extended.

Under the hood, two engines with volumes of 2.7 and 4 liters were now installed, with a power of 159 and 236 horsepower. The car increased its payload capacity and towing capacity to 478 kg and 2948 kg, respectively. Until 2016, the car underwent 4 updates, which brought innovations not only to the exterior but also to the technical equipment.

3rd Generation

In early 2015, a new modification of the pickup truck was presented, which received an updated suspension, improving its driving characteristics and increasing its payload capacity. The car became more technological, with two gasoline engines under the hood again. These were 2.7 and 3.5-liter units. The latter featured an original system that allowed the distributed fuel injection to be replaced with direct injection. The switching occurred automatically depending on the load.

Now the car was offered only in an extended and double cab. And its equipment became more rich - a leather salon, dual-zone climate control, numerous assistants. All this allowed the model to again occupy the leading positions in sales on the American market.

In 2019, a restyling was carried out, which brought a new radiator grille, wheel disks, tinting of rear lights, LED front optics (optional), a new multimedia system with a larger touch screen and the ability to work with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Due to the fact that the model is oriented exclusively towards the North American market, its distribution in our country is limited to single copies.
