Second Generation

The minivan of the second generation appeared only in 2015, almost four years after the end of production of its predecessor. One of the key differences from it was the design, in which straight edges and corners were practically absent. Another significant advantage was the interior layout. Depending on the configuration, it was designed to carry 5, 6, or 7 passengers, which was made possible by the use of the company's proprietary B platform, which, in particular, provided extremely efficient use of internal space by technical components. This made it possible to maximize the salon, which largely predetermined the successful sales of this model, as well as its technical component. The engine range started with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, which, depending on the type of transmission, developed 103 or 109 horsepower. The all-wheel drive modification was slightly less powerful. As an alternative, a hybrid power plant was offered, consisting of the same de-tuned version of the "atmospheric" engine and an electric motor with a total power of 100 horsepower. Such versions were exclusively front-wheel drive.

In the fall of 2018, the car underwent a planned update, which mainly affected the equipment. The base version offered only a 5-seat salon with a raised floor in the luggage compartment, thanks to which, when the second row was folded, a flat cargo platform was formed. The "subfloor" was a deep plastic niche, ideal for storing wet and dirty things. Additionally, special sockets for installing tie-down fittings, closed with plastic plugs, appeared on the side walls of the luggage compartment, 9 on each side. More expensive versions received a set of electronic driver assistance systems Toyota Safety Sense and a multimedia system with connected cameras for a 360-degree view.

Third Generation

In 2022, the Japanese brand introduced a minivan of the third generation. The car completely preserved the concept of its predecessor, remaining an extremely compact model with an exceptionally large distance between the axles - 2750 mm. But it was created on a different platform - the modular GA-B, sharing it with the "subcompact" cars of the Japanese brand, along with most of the technical components. First of all, this is the suspension, which is a combination of "MacPherson" struts at the front and a semi-dependent beam at the rear. The engine range was completely revised, starting with a 1.5-liter inline-three gasoline engine, with which, without any turbocharger, it was possible to "take off" 120 horsepower and 145 Nm. The power unit works in "pair" with the Direct Shift variator with a mechanical first gear. The base versions, equipped with such a "couple", now offer exclusively front-wheel drive. The possibility of getting all-wheel drive has been preserved, but only for a car with a hybrid power plant. It consists of a de-tuned to 91 horsepower and 120 Nm engine of the base version, an 80-horsepower electric motor, an electromechanical variator, as well as a 6.5 Ah battery located under the front seats. For an additional fee, such versions have an all-wheel drive system E-Four, which has another additional electric motor, delivering 3 horsepower and 44 Nm to the rear axle.

The car's exterior has become more calm, losing most of the extravagant details. Already in the standard equipment, there are LED headlights, which in a more expensive configuration become projection ones. As before, the salon is available in both 5- and 7-seat versions, forming a flat platform when the second and third rows of seats are folded. The sliding side doors have an electric drive with activation by a swing of the leg under the threshold, and on their windows, there are sunshades. Among other innovations, it is worth noting the increased by 80 mm range of longitudinal adjustment of the second-row seats, thanks to which the distance to the front seats can reach one meter. The front console now has a classic layout with a dashboard located not above, but below the upper edge of the steering wheel. In the base version, it is still analog, and in more expensive configurations, a modern display is used instead. Another feature of the base equipment is the presence of climate control and a set of electronic assistants Toyota Safety Sense, which includes an automatic parking system. All versions of this model have 15-inch wheels as standard. This is due to the developers' desire to maximize the size of the interior space, minimizing the volume of the wheel arches.
