This allowed for an increase in interior space by almost 1.5 times. However, the car lost the 2-seat second row, where a classic sofa was now installed, divided into two sections in a 60/40 ratio. The engine was taken from the Highlander - a V-shaped gasoline "six" with a volume of 3.3 liters, producing 230 horsepower and 328 Nm of torque. It worked in conjunction with a new 5-speed automatic transmission, providing the ability to tow trailers with a mass of up to 1.6 tons, for which a trailer hitch was already provided in the base trim. The minivan turned out to be quite economical, thanks to the new body with a streamlined profile. Its aerodynamic drag coefficient was only 0.30. In terms of equipment, the minivan also significantly surpassed its predecessor, offering parking sensors, xenon headlights, adaptive cruise control, satellite navigation with voice control, a rearview camera, and a 10-channel JBL audio system.

Third Generation

The next iteration of the model appeared in December 2009. Essentially, it was a modified version of the previous model, using the same Highlander platform and most of the mechanical components. In addition to the 3.5-liter V6 from the predecessor, a 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a volume of 2.7 liters, producing 190 horsepower and 252 Nm of torque, was added. These versions differed only in slightly lower fuel consumption and the absence of a towing device in the standard equipment. Another innovation was the appearance of an electric power steering system. The lineup still included all-wheel-drive versions, making this minivan a unique offering in the North American market, which remained until 2020, when sales of the all-wheel-drive Chrysler Pacifica began.

Fourth Generation

In the spring of 2020, the premiere of the fourth-generation minivan took place. As before, the car was largely unified with the Highlander crossover, but now using the new modular GA-K platform. Another important change was the abandonment of internal combustion engines in favor of a hybrid powertrain. It consists of an in-line gasoline "four" with a volume of 2.5 liters, producing 189 horsepower, which works in conjunction with an electric motor and an electromechanical variator. In total, such a power unit produces up to 246 horsepower. The list of additional options included a four-wheel-drive system, but now it is implemented through the installation of another electric motor on the rear axle. However, even in this form, the hybrid installation is not capable of charging. In terms of equipment, the car retained the concept of its predecessors. "Basic" versions offer an 8-seat salon layout with a sofa in the second row. More expensive versions are designed for up to 7 passengers, offering separate seats in the middle with retractable footrests. The front part is distinguished by a raised central console, under which there is a niche of significant size. Another advantage of the standard equipment is the presence of a 10-inch display of the multimedia system, a complex of electronic assistants Safety Sense of the second iteration. Most modifications use 18-inch wheels. The exception is the top-end XSE version, which uses disks and tires with a landing diameter of 20 inches.
