The second generation of the model, presented in 1962, was largely a "work on mistakes". The car became significantly larger, and the engines became more powerful. In addition, the sedan received an in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine. Two years later, the Japanese brand introduced the Crown Eight, an extended version in width and length, an alternative to large sedans of North American brands, equipped with a 2.6-liter V8 engine. At the same time, both rows of seats were designed for three passengers and upholstered in silk velvet.

Crown today

The current generation of the model, the sixteenth in a row, was presented in the summer of 2022. The Japanese manufacturer has revised the concept of the car towards greater versatility, presenting a whole line of modifications with different body types on its basis. In the standard version, it is a 5-door fastback, an alternative to which is a crossover. All versions are created on the GA-K platform, developed for passenger cars with front-wheel drive, which have standard equipment. The all-wheel drive system is implemented using electricity. The engine range is represented exclusively by hybrid power units based on 2.4- and 2.5-liter gasoline engines, to which one or two traction electric motors and a battery are added, as well as a variator and a 6-speed "automatic".
