The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, a liftback of the representative class, was produced from 2017 to 2023. It is the successor to the F07 model, becoming another attempt by the German brand to impose competition on the A7 from Audi.

The car was first shown to the wide public in the form of a release on the Internet in the summer of 2017. In the fall of the same year, its official debut took place at the Paris Motor Show. The car became noticeably wider and lower, the rear part no longer looked heavy. Like its predecessor, it was created on the basis of the "five", but the current generation with the G30 index, where the cluster modular platform CLAR is used. It allowed to significantly increase the length of the car - by 87 mm. In combination with more efficient use of space, this provided more space for passengers, as well as their luggage - plus 110 liters compared to the previous model. Another significant advantage of the new platform was the significant reduction in weight - depending on the modification, the car's mass became lighter by 150 kg.

At the start of sales, the car was available with a not too numerous line of engines. It consisted of two petrol and one diesel engine. The "base" was an in-line petrol "four" with a turbocharger B48 with a volume of 2 liters, developing 255 hp. and 400 Nm of torque. An alternative to it was a 3-liter 6-cylinder engine B58, developing 335 hp. and a traction force of 450 Nm. Between them was the diesel modification 630d with an in-line turbocharged "six" B57 with a volume of 3 liters. With such power units, the car turned out to be quite dynamic, "exchanging" the first 100 km/h in 6.4-5.3 seconds. The exception was the version with the 620d index, which appeared in 2018 with a diesel 2-liter "four" B47, which cannot be called excessively slow with its 7.9 seconds to "hundred", but at the same time easily overcoming about 1 thousand km on one refueling. This is largely due to the 8-speed "automatic" ZF, which was already available in the standard equipment, along with the electronically controlled pneumatic suspension, which automatically eliminates tilts. In addition, the range of modifications included versions with the xDrive all-wheel drive system, and for the most dynamic 640i, it was available "by default".
