The BMW iX – a fully electric crossover from the German concern – was first presented to the public as the Vision iNext concept in 2018. Its full-scale production began in 2020, and the first deliveries to owners started in 2021.

Technical Features

The power unit is a single block that includes an electric motor, control electronics, and a single-speed transmission. Thanks to its own developments, this system, according to the manufacturer, is more efficient than analogs from other manufacturers. An important addition is the automatic recuperation function during braking, which allows the battery to be charged and increases the vehicle's range.

Equipment

The electric vehicle features the new iDrive 8 control system, which includes a fully digital instrument panel measuring 12.3 inches, connected to the main touchscreen measuring 14.9 inches. It is based on a powerful computing platform that allows for fast data processing from all sensors and ensures a high level of driving safety. The car also features a semi-autonomous autopilot system level 2+, which can be programmatically upgraded to level 3 in the future. Thanks to it, the vehicle can perform many tasks autonomously, guaranteeing increased comfort for the driver.

In 2022, the "charged" M60 version was presented, with a peak engine power of 610 horsepower and a torque of 1100 Nm. This enables the large crossover to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

As for the distribution in our country, only a few units can be found on domestic roads. This is due not only to the high price but also to the lack of developed infrastructure for charging electric vehicles.
