The "diesel" part of the engine range did not change so much, since it consisted of modified engines of the previous generation car throughout almost the entire period of serial production. And this again became the flagship version with the M550D index, where the N57S, an inline aluminum "six" with Common Rail, piezoelectric Bosch injectors, and three turbochargers of different volumes, was used. The power of this power unit was 375 horsepower, and the torque was 740 Nm. Nevertheless, the majority of this model's copies were produced with a 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 148 horsepower and an impressive traction for such a volume of 360 Nm.
