History beginning

The first serial car BMW 5 series with the E12 body was released in 1973. The shape of the headlights changed, the air filter was increased, and the filling neck got ventilation and was moved to the rear wing. This model existed until 1981. It was replaced by the next generation with the E28 body number. Changes affected all elements and units. The body shape became more sporty and dynamic, the salon was more spacious, and many chrome elements were removed. It was from this generation that the company's signature torpedo turn towards the driver appeared. The significantly redesigned suspension provided more precise handling, and this was against the background of a decrease in the overall weight of the vehicle by 60-90 kg. The power units were also modernized, and among them, a 2.7-liter engine with an improved injection system appeared. In addition, for the first time, the car was equipped with a diesel engine.

Next stage of development

In 1988, the company released another creation with the E34 body index. It was this generation that became key to popularizing the BMW brand on the world market. The modified body, improved salon with air conditioning, electric front seats, effective sound insulation, improved braking system, and redesigned passive safety made the car the best in its class. The power units were based on six-cylinder engines, which were complemented by a mechanical or automatic transmission. It was in this generation that a model with all-wheel drive was presented.

The next generation was the E39 model, which received a more streamlined shape with a "predatory" front. The basis of the body was still made of steel, but many suspension elements were made of aluminum. This contributed to a reduction in overall weight, which had a positive effect on maneuverability and speed. As before, the cars were equipped with diesel and gasoline engines with various volumes, but with an improved injection system, which increased their power indicators.

Despite its popularity all over the world, time required changes, which were expressed in the release of the E60 in 2003. The main difference from all previous generations was the combined body, the front part of which was made of aluminum, and the rear part was made of steel. This solution allowed improving the weight distribution and increasing the accuracy of steering at high speed. As for the power units, they moved from the E39, only they were refined and received electronic control. Another feature was the increased base, which increased the comfort for passengers on the rear seats.

F10 - it was with this body index that the next generation was released, which was presented in 2010. An even more sporty body, a line of powerful engines, excellent interior trim, high level of sound insulation, and all this at a competitive price.

G30 - the latest generation to date, which started in 2017. This is a high-tech car that combines the traditions of German quality and modern technical equipment.
