Audi SQ5 represents the "charged" version of the compact premium crossover, which, compared to the standard versions, has increased dynamics and sporty handling. It has been produced since 2013.

Initial version

Another important difference from the standard model was the Quattro all-wheel drive system with "torque vectoring" on each axis, which significantly improved the crossover's directional stability during acceleration. In addition, it was equipped with a "sports" suspension that reduced the ground clearance by 30 mm, as well as 20-inch wheels.

Second generation

In 2017, the German brand presented the "charged" crossover of the second generation. The powertrain range remained the same only "on paper". As before, a 3-liter V6 gasoline engine with a 90-degree V-angle and direct fuel injection, operating according to the Miller cycle, was used in the car. However, it was significantly modernized, receiving, in particular, a different turbocharger with a double "scroll". In combination with other changes, this allowed, with the same power as before, to significantly increase the torque - up to 500 Nm. Moreover, the entire traction became available already at 1370 rpm. In addition, the crossover received a modernized version of the Quattro all-wheel drive system. Unlike the standard version, the torque was constantly supplied to the wheels, and unlike the predecessor, in a ratio of 40/60. At the same time, the new inter-axle differential allowed instantly redirecting up to 70% of the traction to the front axle and up to 85% to the rear axle. In 2020, the lineup was complemented by a version with a hybrid power plant, where the traction electric motor helped the internal combustion engine during acceleration, and with a fully charged lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 14.1 kWh, it allowed overcoming up to 32 km on electric traction.
