Audi A1 – a compact hatchback belonging to class B, was created on the platform from VW Polo (5th generation). Therefore, the car was initially equipped only with a three-door body. Later, the manufacturer presented a five-door version as well.

The beginning of the story

The car was first introduced in 2010. The first generation, in its exterior, very much resembled the A4 model, only in a reduced size. At the front, there was a proprietary radiator grille, which was named Single frame. And on the sides of the body, there was a "tornado" stamping. The car received a classic front suspension MacPherson and rear torsion, the joint work of which provided precision control, including at high speeds, and a high level of comfort. There were quite a few power units offered. Moreover, some engines with the same volume had different settings, which affected their power indicators. Among the petrol engines, there were 1.4, 1.6, and 2-liter ones. "Diesels" were represented by 1.6 and 2.0-liter versions. Note that the majority of them were equipped with a "start-stop" system and recuperation. This made it possible to significantly reduce fuel costs, especially in urban operating modes. Along with the classic internal combustion engines, in 2011, a fully electric version with a range of 50 km was presented. But it did not become popular due to the short range on a single charge. Along with the front-wheel drive, the car was also equipped with the proprietary all-wheel drive system quattro, which allowed for a significant improvement in the car's driving characteristics.

Generation 2

In 2018, the production of a fully updated model began, which was transferred to the new MQB A0 platform. Thanks to this, the car increased in size. Moreover, the manufacturer refused the three-door configuration in favor of the five-door one. In addition to the increased dimensions, the new car received a strengthened frame due to the use of ultra-high-strength steel alloys.

The front suspension remained the same in terms of design – MacPherson. While the rear one acquired a semi-independent structure. This improved the maneuverability of the vehicle. In addition, the manufacturer optionally offered a sports suspension with adaptive-type shock absorbers.

Visually, the car also changed, acquiring the features of the general corporate design – strict headlights, a proprietary radiator grille, separate rear lights (previously they were only located on the trunk lid). The more spacious salon received a more ergonomic layout of the main elements.

The power units are now only petrol ones – 1 liter with two power options: 95 and 116 hp, 1.5 liters with 150 hp, and 2 liters with 200 hp. It is possible to install both a manual transmission and the proprietary S-tronic.

The electronic "stuffing" has also changed significantly, with a 10.25-inch touch screen at its head, which allows you to control all the main functions. There are quite a few of them here, especially since the manufacturer offers a wide range of additions.
