Audi S7 is a high-performance version of the 5-door liftback A7, featuring improved dynamic characteristics. It has been produced since 2012 and currently, the second-generation model is in the production lineup of the German brand, which debuted in the spring of 2018.

The 2018 car of the second generation turned out to be largely unified not only with the S6 sedan and wagon but also with the SQ5 crossover. Compared to its predecessor, it differed in an expanded engine range, which, in addition to the turbocharged V8 gasoline engine with a volume of 4 liters and a power of 450 horsepower, also included a new diesel power unit - V6 with the EA897 index, which previously debuted in the SQ5 TDI crossover and featured a two-stage turbocharging. Another feature was the presence of a so-called "hybrid superstructure". The car already has a 48-volt starter-generator in its standard equipment, which provides traction to the wheels in the first moments of acceleration and also allows the car to move in coasting mode without using the main power plant for up to 40 seconds. Perhaps the only technical components that the new generation inherited from its predecessor were the 8-speed "automatic" and the all-wheel-drive Quattro system in its most "advanced" version with a central self-locking differential. "By default", these elements distribute traction between the front and rear axles in a 40/60 proportion. During acceleration, this proportion can vary within the following ranges: up to 70% forward and up to 85% backward.

Another important feature is the presence of special actuators on the levers of the rear suspension. These elements allow the wheels to be deflected along the horizontal axis, and at high speed, in the same direction as the front wheels to increase directional stability, and during slow movement, in the opposite direction, reducing the turning radius by 1.1 meters. The car comes with a spring suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers as standard equipment, which reduced the ground clearance compared to the regular "seven" by 10 mm. As an additional option, a pneumatic suspension is offered, which can reduce the clearance at speeds above 120 km/h by an additional 1 centimeter. Another difference from the standard model is the braking system. Six-piston mechanisms and 40-centimeter discs are used at the front, and 35-centimeter elements are used at the rear. As an alternative and for an additional fee, carbon-ceramic elements are offered, which allow reducing the weight of unsprung masses by 9 kg.
