Audi A6L was part of a line of mid-size premium cars. It differs from other models in the line with an increased wheelbase. This is due to the purchasing preferences of the domestic Chinese market, the main market for this model. It has been produced since 2005.

Initial version

The car presented in 2005 belongs to the third generation of the popular model, the serial production of which began a year earlier. The key difference from it was the wheelbase, increased by 102 mm. Almost all the extra space went to the passengers of the second row, noticeably moving the backs of the front seats. Initially, the car was offered with a 2.4-liter V6 gasoline engine. Later it was replaced by a turbocharged "four", a 2-liter engine, producing 170 horsepower. More interesting modifications with a 3-liter V-shaped "six" appeared in the lineup, producing 218 horsepower, as well as a 4.2-liter V8, producing 335 horsepower. The most dynamic versions "by default" had a Quattro all-wheel drive system.

Second iteration

Also, with a gap of a calendar year, the German brand presented in China a car of the next iteration. As before, the difference in the size of the wheelbase with the standard version was about 100 millimeters, and with the predecessor - more than 170 millimeters. Another important innovation was the design, executed in the same style as the flagship of the "passenger" line of the German brand with the index A8. But the sedan was created on the modular MLB platform, sharing it with the A7/C7 models. As before, the engine range consisted exclusively of gasoline engines, but of a larger volume - at least 3 liters, including the most powerful version, producing 300 horsepower. In the standard configuration, the sedan was rear-wheel drive. More expensive versions made the Quattro all-wheel drive system and an 8-speed hydromechanical "automatic" available.

Third iteration

In the winter of 2019, the German brand presented a sedan of the third generation, which was created on the basis of the fifth-generation model. The manufacturer did not depart from the tradition of adding about 100 mm to the length of the wheelbase. But, taking into account the increased dimensions of this model, the car surpassed the flagship A8 in this parameter, which turned out to be 26 mm shorter. The engine range was revised, which in the first years of production consisted of 2- and 3-liter TFSI engines, producing 245 and 340 horsepower. Already in the standard configuration, the car received a Quattro all-wheel drive system and a 7-speed robotic gearbox with a "wet" clutch.
