The Volkswagen Tayron GTE debuted in the German brand's production range in 2018. The car is one of the versions of the eponymous crossover, which, like the entire line of its modifications, is designed for the Chinese domestic market.Initial version
The crossover presented in 2018 differed from the standard version of Tayron by the use of a hybrid power plant, which previously appeared in the Tiguan L PHEV, also intended for the Chinese market. Under the hood was a turbocharged gasoline "four" of the TSI family with a power of 150 hp and a massive block of electrical control. It includes an electric motor integrated into the robotic DSG gearbox, which produces up to 116 hp during peak loads and up to 75 hp in normal operating mode. The total power output of the power plant reaches 218 hp. At the same time, the drive of this model was only on the front axle, which is due exclusively to the preferences of Chinese motorists. The power source is a lithium-ion battery located in the "basement" of the trunk, the capacity of which is enough to provide a range of up to 50 kilometers on electric traction. The charging socket is located under the cover in the place of the radiator grille.Against the background of the gasoline version of the crossover, this car stands out with more massive bumpers and decorative elements painted in "eco-friendly" blue. The placement of the energy exchange scale in place of the tachometer, which has become a secondary instrument on the dashboard, is perhaps the only difference in the interior of the hybrid version.
Updated version
In 2022, the crossover underwent a planned update, which mainly affected the exterior. X-shaped decorative elements borrowed from the X-version of the model appeared in the front and rear. The rear lights were combined into a single block with a LED strip. The key innovation in the cabin was a 12-inch display of the multimedia system installed above the front console. It, in turn, received a different upper trim, and the deflectors lost separate regulators for closing the air flow.
