The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack has been in production since 2014. The car is an "off-road" version of the same-name station wagon.

Initial Version

Before 2014, the German brand's passenger car lineup only had the mid-size Passat Alltrack model, from which only the concept was borrowed for this car. Technically, it turned out to be close to the Octavia Scout station wagon. Already in the standard equipment, the car offered a 4Motion all-wheel drive system with a multi-disc Haldex clutch, connecting the rear axle when the front wheels slip. There are imitations of inter-wheel differential locks, and the ABS control program was borrowed from the brand's crossovers along with all "off-road" modes, including "hill descent assistance". Another difference from the standard version was the modified chassis, which increased the ground clearance by 20 mm, along with the suspension travel. The engine range consists mainly of diesel engines with capacities from 1.6 to 2 liters, developing from 110 hp and 250 Nm to 184 hp and 380 Nm. The only gasoline engine in the range was an in-line, 8-valve "four" with a turbocharger, producing 180 hp and 280 Nm. All power units worked in tandem with a 6-speed "robot" DSG.

The external differences of this station wagon were limited to other bumpers, plastic trim around the body, and inscriptions with the modification name on the radiator grille, seat backs, and door trim, as well as wheel disks. 17-inch Valley wheels became standard for this model.

Second Generation

The next generation of the car appeared in 2020, almost a year after the debut of the eighth-generation Golf hatchback, along with the premiere of the standard station wagon. Externally, it differed from its predecessor with a sloping roof towards the stern, which led to changes in the glazing of the rear of the body. The previously present plastic trim was fully preserved with the addition of a characteristic design of fog lights on the front bumper, similar to the "charged" GTI versions, which now became 10. Another feature was a consequence of using a different platform. It increased the distance between the axles by 5 centimeters, each of which was given to the passengers of the second row. The new "cart" due to a more compact rear suspension slightly increased the volume of the luggage compartment, which now amounted to 611 liters. Under the hood are the same engines as the standard station wagon, but mostly unavailable for the predecessor. Compared to it, power units with similar power and torque indicators became noticeably more economical. They are used in "pair" with mechanical and "robotized" gearboxes, the latter were modernized, increasing, in particular, the towing capacity of the station wagon. Its 150-horsepower version with a 2-liter diesel engine can tow a trailer weighing up to 2 tons. And, as before, already in the standard equipment of this car, there is a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with all the additions from the brand's crossovers and a modified suspension that increases the clearance.
