The next-generation car appeared in 2019, almost a year after the debut of the standard seventh-generation sedan. The key difference again was the engine - an in-line "four" with a volume of 2 liters with a turbocharger of the EA888 series, which has been installed on the "charged" Golf GTI since 2017. Depending on the configuration, it is combined with a 6-speed "mechanics" or a 7-speed "robot" DSG. Unlike its predecessor, the brake system was taken from the more powerful Golf R. Instead of a semi-independent beam at the rear of the standard sedan, this model uses a multi-link suspension. For an additional fee, the chassis can be adaptive, based on electronically controlled DCC shock absorbers.

Visually, the "charged" Jetta stands out with a more aggressive bumper design, a radiator grille with a large cell, a matte black finish, and a characteristic red stripe for "charged" versions. There is a small spoiler on the trunk lid, and under the rear bumper - double exhaust pipes of increased diameter. In terms of equipment, the base version is significantly different from the standard sedan. First of all, it's a "cut" steering wheel from the bottom, front seats with an extended cushion and pronounced lateral support. Throughout the cabin, there are decorative elements painted red. The list of additional options includes door cards and seats upholstered in genuine leather, ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof, and a "digital" instrument panel. 18-inch wheels with a landing diameter are standard for the GLI version.
