Tyre reviews Michelin X-Ice North 4 881
- Rate
Hello everyone. This winter in Kursk didn't quite live up to expectations, but I did manage to try out a set of tyres. I'll share my impressions - this is my first set of Michelin, previously I had Nokian Nordman 4, Kam, Bridgestone Ice Cruiser 7000. The Michelin tyres really impressed me, here's why.
After the tyres were fitted, the usual procedure was followed and the car was put on the road.

It's a pity that reviews are usually written immediately, not after use. In general, the speech will be about rubber made in Russia, with the purchase of a new car for work, new X-Ice North 4 tires were also taken. My admiration knew no bounds. The rubber really holds very well on all surfaces. I drove 2 seasons on it without any complaints. I drove about 20 thousand kilometers during this time. I put it on for the 3rd season and after a couple of months, vibration appeared - it turned out that a radial bulge had come out. Moreover, on two wheels. I know for sure that I didn't fly into any pits, which is why I'm very surprised at this situation. The mileage for the rubber is very small, that is, there is no durability at all. So when choosing, think carefully about whether you are ready to pay so much for tires for 20 thousand kilometers of mileage. Although the grip with the road is excellent.

I tested this tire in two sizes (185/65/15 and 215/65/16). Among all winter tires I've driven on, this one is the most comfortable and balanced. The Michelin tire feels overly grippy and tracks the road surface. The tire feels like it's hugging the road and absorbing all the road imperfections. If there is any sound insulation in the car, you will notice its silence during the break-in period. Honestly, the tire is simply amazing -

I purchased a set of these tires together with my car in 2019 in the size 215/65/17. As a thorough perfectionist, I carefully ran them in without any sharp maneuvers for about a couple of thousand kilometers. The tires are indeed excellent - braking, acceleration, lateral stability in turns, softness, and other characteristics are at a very high level. I especially note the quietness while driving, they are really quieter than summer Pirelli, as if there were no studs at all... And they are, and after 4 winter seasons of operation, almost all of them are still in place.
But this model has a significant drawback that outweighs all the described advantages - already in the 4th season (i.e. after 20 thousand km of winter operation) they started to beat the wheels. I visited two tire shops, the verdict is the same - the cord has "gone". That is, the working surface of the tread has become uneven. When spinning on a balancing machine, this is clearly visible. There are no sidewall bulges or cuts, and there were no impacts 100%. We did optimization (rotating the tire relative to the disk) twice, but it didn't help. Driving above 70 km/h is uncomfortable in general, and I think it's not safe for the suspension either. I thought that maybe I just got a faulty batch of tires, but then other owners of this model told me about a similar situation, and the problem was confirmed at the tire shops. As a result, I barely managed to carefully drive through this winter, and the total winter mileage on these tires was around 25 thousand km.

I have a 195/65/15 size. On the road, always in the winter, everyone is sliding on asphalt crevices. And I'm constantly overtaking on the middle of the road ice.
On asphalt: noisy. The studs do not interfere with braking on asphalt. And in general, like the summer Pirelli P1. Just a bit wobbly.
On snow: confidently, but not on five-cylinder. On loose snow,- Vehicle:

Excellent tire, especially on bare ice, head and shoulders above the competition, when braking on ice, you need to look in the rearview mirror, not the front one, as with this tire, the chances are much higher that someone will come from behind than you can stop. The usual crunch of the studs is only heard when braking and accelerating at low speed, but on the highway, it's almost inaudible, of course, it's not a mute, but it doesn't cause any

Very satisfied with the tires, acceleration, braking, city, track, snow, ice, asphalt everywhere behave perfectly. First 1000 km seemed noisy (after summer tires), then became quieter (or I got used to it), does not cause any discomfort. Before that I was a fan of Hakka (7 and 8)... Michelin is undoubtedly better. We'll see for how long it will last.

Hello fellow car enthusiasts!
I purchased a tire in August 2019, prior to which I drove on Bridgestone Ice Cruiser for several winters, and on my second car (Touareg) on Pirelli Ice Zero.
From mid-October, snow started falling in our northern region, and I replaced the Bridgestone with a new Michelin. The difference in handling on icy roads and snow-covered roads is simply critical, with Bridgestone being

I always bought the best for winter, and previously drove on the previous car with a Hakkapeliitta 8 in size 205/55 R16, now on the Veste S Cross 205/50R17, and I will compare them. The M+S is much quieter, and this is still a new, unbroken-in tire. The M+S should be quieter still once broken in. I tested the traction on the snow in Cheboksary (28.10.18

Used for the 2019-2020 winter season, I drove around 3000 km on them, mainly in the Moscow region. Please note that I write this review with the caveat that I used them lightly during the season when there was little snow.
The best tire I've ever had. After the old tire (Yokohama Ice Guard IG30, used for 6 years, 25,000 km) I felt a huge increase in confidence, the difference is enormous. It
