I've been wanting to try studded tires for a long time. Here, I came across the Goodyear IceArctic2 option in the size 215/55 R16. The first and most noticeable plus is the silence in the cabin at all times. On snow, I didn't feel any difference compared to studded tires. On ice and rolled-in ice snow, I did feel that I needed to be more careful and attentive. But all of this comes with experience and driving record. Therefore, I still recommend friction tires for drivers with more than 3 years of experience. I liked the sidewall grip of the tire, it holds well in turns. The tire is soft, and I noticed that the best grip appears at temperatures below -10°C. On winter asphalt (even if it's partially frozen or covered with a light layer of snow), it's generally a pleasure to drive, it holds the course well, and you can noticeably see the difference in moving faster and more confidently than your studded counterparts in traffic. Overall, I don't regret switching to friction tires. Let's see how they will perform over time as they wear out.

Tires of size 205/60/16. Installed on 22.10.21, when there was no snow yet and it was even warm, almost up to +9. In warm weather, they are predictably viscous. With the onset of winter, I checked them, it seems on all surfaces, except for clean ice on the highway.

Snowy porridge, highway, around zero - good. If you drive with your head on, but everything is quite predictable.

Now the city is covered in snow, the streets are poorly cleaned. Well, in such conditions, my ESP often kicks in and there's a lot of wheel spin. But I think it's the same for many others. Both with and without studs.

Snow - everything is great, the grip is excellent, it bites well.

Clean ice. Well, to put it briefly, I got into a situation in my FF3 2.0 + robot. I stopped in a place where there was clean ice under the snow. And all 4 wheels were in a virtual pit. I couldn't get out without outside help. But this is more due to the peculiarities of the robot. On low traction, the wheels don't rotate yet, and as soon as you give it a bit of gas, it starts to slip and skid.

I can't assess the wear resistance, since I haven't even driven a full season yet.

But I can assess the comfort. Damn, I drive and enjoy it. Honestly. I don't want to go back to studded tires. It's just a pleasure for the ears.

I took it as an experiment. A normal tire that generally does its job, but without any flaws either. The ice is not for this tire at all, nor is an excessively rutted snow. It struggles quite a bit in snowdrifts. The main element of this tire is asphalt, whether it's dry or wet, it does perfectly, and doesn't harden up on cold temperatures, and it's fairly durable in terms of wear, considering its softness. Great tire as expected from Goodyear. Already using this brand for 5 winter seasons and all tires are very close in terms of characteristics. I like that I have confidence and understanding of how the tire will react on any road! A great winter tyre for the city. Extremely soft. Throughout the season, the tyre encountered all possible road conditions: dry and wet asphalt, black ice, snow slides, and loose fresh snow. The tyre performed well in all conditions.

Due to this, 25-45 grams may protrude on each side during balancing, the tyre itself does not jump on the rim and does not dance. Colour marks 100% accurately indicate the optimal position on the rim.
Groove depth 3.5 mm, which is a huge minus.

I replaced the non-studded Goodyear tyres, model - if I am not mistaken - Icegrip. The UltraGrip Ice 2 is clearly better on snow and ice, and the water drainage is more pronounced - which may not be an advantage. I have driven on these tyres not a lot yet, but so far the tyres have been a pleasure. I recommend this model.
