Tyre reviews Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2 SUV 84

At the specified mileage, there are no serious issues with the tires under almost any road conditions and proper driving. The tread pattern, compared to the old Hakka 5, does not significantly affect the behavior of the car, it holds the course well, tries to smooth out irregularities, and the passability can be characterized as sufficient. On the most unpleasant surface, a mixture of ice and snow, the behavior is not the most reliable, no miracles happen, and it is necessary to follow the speed limit and avoid sharp maneuvers, as expected. The increase in the number of spikes, in an attempt to fit within the framework of current legislation, at the expense of reducing their size, does not bring the desired result. The tread pattern and the composition of the mixture also play their role, but already according to the residual principle. As a result, the transverse grip, unfortunately, does not provide maximum confidence. This looks like some strangeness and manifests when you start to note the difference, like a meticulous "professional", during the already truly winter operation, when the air temperature at the end of November does not drop below -10, the tires seem soft, comfortable, and manageable on any surface. Then winter sets in, and after almost 2 months, with temperature changes from around 0 to -30 and below, you notice that even those same -10 no longer produce the initial "excellent" effect. In general, it must be recognized that in our frost, the tires, as expected, become harder, and skidding on icy surfaces at city intersections is more frequent than desired. In such moments, ESP and, with a delay, the spikes finally grip. This opinion was formed solely in comparison with the last Hankook I'Pike on the previous passenger car under the same conditions. The conclusion is that until you drive on the entire tire, you won't know the best one, but manufacturers will do everything to prevent this from happening!
P.S. I've been wearing winter tourist-sport shoes from a famous brand this winter, with Ultragrip written on the sole, with many protruding spikes, edges, and lamellas, the mixture is slightly soft to the touch, but they don't hold on ice at all, apparently, the word Arctic is missing.- Vehicle:

Prior to purchasing the Goodyear, I had Nokian Nord 7 tires, which I had driven for two winters with studs remaining in perfect condition. Upon learning about the new Goodyear, I purchased it without hesitation, as I have only ever bought Goodyear Artik tires for my three vehicles. At the end of the winter, the temperature dropped from -3 degrees to -23 degrees. The tire performs well on both ice and snow, with only a slight tendency to slide

In addition to the tires, after the running-in period, the car behaves perfectly. December turned out to be warm, but there was a lot of snow, I tried to drive into the forest on fresh snow, the tires behave perfectly until they don't slip, but in the end, backing up, I didn't get stuck even once. When driving long distances, I went confidently at a speed of 110-120 km/h. All the studs are in place and stand evenly. In frost, the tires do not freeze and remain soft, so I recommend buying them.

I purchased these tires in the size 235/65 R17 at the beginning of November 2021. Initially, there was a "female question" - would they fit or not, since I had switched from the standard 225/65/R17. But everything is fine, the difference in width and height is minimal, they don't rub anywhere, don't interfere, and the amount of dirt on the body hasn't increased. I chose this tire specifically because of the tread pattern, I needed "toothy" wheels for deep snow, and at the same time, they had to handle ice and snowy slush. The installation went without problems, the balancing is excellent. The noise level is within acceptable limits, I accelerated to 130 on asphalt, of course, there's a feeling like being in an airplane and about to take off, but that's only for the first few days, then it seems like the noise decreases. After installation, it snowed on the second day, so I immediately put them to the test! For now, I'm satisfied with the purchase. I've already tested them on snowy and icy off-road conditions, driving up and down where a normal SUV would try to find a detour! Also, on asphalt, on an icy downhill slope with an angle of about 30 degrees, I slowed down from 20 km/h and stopped in the middle of the hill, the studs held, it was -1 outside, and then I easily drove up in full-wheel drive mode without engaging off-road mode. On asphalt with a little snowy slush and ice, I entered an intersection at 90 degrees at a speed of 50, trying to make the car skid, but it didn't go anywhere. I hope it will be the same on more extreme surfaces. Previously, I drove 4 winters on Matador Ice Siber 225/65 R17. The difference is significant, especially off-road! I'm waiting for big snow and frost!

Tires 235/60/18 made in Germany, purchased in September 2021 for 11,600 rubles in Dzerzhinsk. At the time of purchase, I also considered Nokian Nordman 8 and Yokohama Ice Guard 65. The tires were balanced perfectly on new Replay rims. The tires are not noisy, quite passable, snow, ice, wet asphalt without complaints. I drove about 1,000 kilometers, but overall, I didn't push them to the limit, trying to save them. Nevertheless, one stud was lost on the front right wheel. The result is decent, but before that, I drove two winters on Avensis 1.8 previous Ice Arctic, where all the studs were in place. Overall, the tire is decent, I would give it 5 points if it weren't for the loss of one stud. Let's see how they will perform further. In terms of price-quality ratio at the time of purchase, there were no competitors. Now, as of May 2022, the price has increased, and it's possible that I would consider Spike-02 as an alternative, at the time of purchase, it was more expensive by about 5,000 rubles for a set, now the price is roughly the same.

I can only complain about the price. The best studs I've had in 15 years of driving experience. On the highway, they are quiet, if you compare them to similar-priced competitors, they can handle slushy snow while maintaining trajectory, and ice or black ice is really their element, with grip and braking at the maximum level. The tread is deep and doesn't clog with snow, even if there's dirt under the snow - they slowly but surely clear it out. All the studs are intact, and they justify their price 100%.

I've tried a lot of different tires and I know that with studded tires, you can't escape the noise in the cabin. But, and again, the Arctic 2 SUV is not only the quietest, but also quite comfortable. Black ice is their element, ice crust, 10 cm of snow, I can always drive to my mother's village on my own - like a regular trip to the supermarket. The season failed, the studs are in place, I sent all the tires for storage, they were re-inspected. The tire gets a 5 for softness, it absorbs potholes like in summer, and retains its elasticity at -25, I've checked.

Ordered through the site, new model, release year 21, manufacturer Germany.
On asphalt, it's noisy, handling is good, the tire is soft, based on the experience of the previous model, which is not bad at all, it should be better, there are more spikes now.

Worthy tires of high quality. Left 5*, but so far the 1st season has not had a chance to confirm the points of wear resistance, resistance to aquaplaning, price justification, and ice handling. Balanced well, good directional stability, does not throw out of the rut and does not wobble, like on some summer SUV wheels from Continental, make the most noise at low speeds, after 80 do not bother much. On the highway before Yaroslavl drove 170 km/h, drove smoothly, excellently. On the old car, there were 18-inch Nordman wheels, those were noisy and on fresh snow, a 2400 kg SUV braked poorly, otherwise good, wear over 3 seasons is small, all spikes are in place.

As they say, prepare your sleds in winter, well, in our case, prepare your tires, and that's exactly what I decided to do by buying new tires from Goodyear to replace my old ones. I chose them for several reasons - I live in the North and I need STUDDED tires, and here they have 230 studs on one tire - an excellent indicator, and the Arctic Eagle Claw studs themselves are an excellent development, they are comfortable (here is the authoritative opinion of numerous media sources, bloggers). In general, safety and comfort are the most important things for me
