Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2 SUV

The winter studded tire Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2 SUV is designed for crossovers, pickups, and SUVs. Developed on the basis of the same "passenger" tire, with an identical design of the tread pattern, it differs from it by a design adapted to the large weight and high center of mass of four-wheel drive vehicles. Accordingly, all driving qualities have remained the same. The tire demonstrates excellent traction properties on icy surfaces, improved handling and braking efficiency, and a long service life.

The key difference from the previous model is the number of studs. From the previous 130 (on average, depending on the size) it was increased to 220 pieces. To achieve this, their size and weight were significantly reduced - by 10 and 21%, respectively. The result of this innovation was a significant improvement in traction properties on icy surfaces. It was the "weak point" of the previous model after the appearance on the market of similar tires from A-brands. In addition to weight and size, the design of the stud has changed significantly. Its hard alloy insert retained a polygonal shape. The configuration of the stud base has changed, which now resembles an eagle's claw, giving marketers a reason to call this technological solution Arctic Eagle Claw. Directly under the steel element, there is a special absorbing pad. Its elasticity reduces the impact of the stud on the road surface, reducing noise while driving.

The tread pattern has also undergone significant changes. It retained the "classic" design of the V-Tread brand, but the size of the blocks was significantly reduced, which allowed to increase their number. This solution improves traction and stability on snowy surfaces.
