    The Mercedes X-Class pickup truck was part of the German brand's lineup from 2017 to 2020. The vehicle was one of the practical results of cooperation with the Japanese Nissan, differing in a high degree of unification with the Navara pickup.

    Key differences

    The car was created based on the X-Class concept presented in 2016. The production sample differed in a much simpler execution of the headlights, bumpers, and reduced wheels, as well as the absence of plastic wheel arch protection. Compared to the "related" Nissan Navara pickup, this model turned out to be slightly larger, surpassing it in length and width with an identical wheelbase of 3150 mm. At the start of sales, the car was available in three trim levels, differing from each other, including the exterior design. The base Pure version stood out with an unpainted front bumper, and a similar part at the back had a glossy black finish. The next-level Progressive trim offered bumpers painted in the body color, and the top-end Power added chrome decorative elements to them. Already in the base trim, the cargo platform lighting was present, and as additional options, a rear-view camera integrated into the fold-down side, along with covers, a gun, and various protective arches were offered.

    As for the interior, it was distinguished by a nearly flat front console, which was supplemented with details from other German brand models - a steering wheel, instrument panel, ventilation deflectors, and a multimedia system display. The location of the transmission control lever on the central tunnel was almost the only difference, due to the features of the platform used here. Despite belonging to utility equipment, the possibility of choosing from numerous seat upholstery options, including natural leather, as well as the upper part of the door cards and armrests, which can be upholstered in artificial leather, was preserved for this pickup. The massive decorative insert on the front console can be made of aluminum or natural wood. The list of additional options also features driver assistance systems - lane departure warning, sign recognition, and emergency braking.

    The chassis was borrowed from the Nissan Navara, namely from the top versions of this pickup. A 2-link suspension is used at the front, and a solid axle is used at the back. Springs are installed on both axles. However, the main difference from the Japanese model was the track, which was increased by 62 mm at the front and 55 mm at the back. The ground clearance of the standard version is 202 mm, but the list of options includes an "off-road" suspension, which adds another 20 mm to the clearance. The engine range consists of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 165 hp and 238 Nm, as well as several variants of a 2.3-liter diesel engine developed by Nissan. Its base version with a single turbocharger produces 163 hp and 403 Nm, and with two - 190 hp and 450 Nm. The power unit works in "pair" with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed "automatic". The transmission of the base version has rear-wheel drive, and the rest - a classic "part-time" with mechanically connectable front wheels and a reduction gear. Later, a 3-liter V6 diesel engine of the German brand's own design with 258 hp and 550 Nm was added to the engine range. This power unit was combined only with the proprietary 7-speed "automatic" 7G-Tronic, permanent all-wheel drive, which delivered 60% of the torque to the rear axle, and was also equipped with a reduction gear with a more aggressive ratio - 2.9:1, as well as an asymmetrical interaxle differential.
