The crossover is built on the modular EVA platform of the second iteration, created specifically for electric vehicles of the German brand. Under it is a compartment with a traction battery integrated into the power structure of the body. Its design stands out for its excellent efficiency from an aerodynamic point of view. The air resistance coefficient is around 0.26 — a figure previously characteristic of compact sedans. To achieve this, engineers used smooth body surfaces, recessed door handles, and a carefully designed rear shape.

Technically, the car largely repeats the liftback EQS, but the differences between the models are significantly deeper than they may seem. The SUV version received an increased clearance, a completely changed suspension geometry, and a salon with a reserve of space above the head. The difference is especially noticeable in the second row. If the regular EQS is focused primarily on performing a "representative" function, then this crossover offers "family" usage options, for which a third row of seats is provided in the salon.

The chassis settings have also changed. The AIRMATIC pneumatic suspension is adapted to the increased suspension travel, making the car a more preferable option for roads with poor surface quality. Comfort in the city is ensured by the all-wheel steering chassis, the rear wheels of which can be turned at an angle of up to 10 degrees, reducing the turning radius.

The engine range starts with a single 360-horsepower electric motor with a torque of 568 Nm. This version accelerates to "hundred" in 6.7 seconds. The closest alternative in terms of cost is a two-motor modification with the same total power, but with a torque of 800 Nm and an all-wheel-drive system. The top-end trim levels offer two electric motors with peak values of 544 hp and 858 Nm. Such a power unit accelerates the 2.7-ton crossover to "hundred" in 4.7 seconds. A common feature of all versions is a smooth and quiet acceleration with linear responses to pressing the accelerator pedal. This is largely due to the use of a traction battery of the same capacity for all modifications — 109 kWh, which allows you to travel up to 600 kilometers without recharging. The onboard charging device is designed to work with DC power sources with a capacity of up to 200 kW. This allows you to replenish the battery charge from 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes.

"Digital" luxury in the interior

The salon in the top versions stands out for its huge glass panel Hyperscreen, under which there are three displays: a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 17.7-inch central screen, and a separate 12.3-inch passenger display. Even standard versions look quite "technological" inside. Almost all control is integrated into the latest generation MBUX multimedia system with voice control and complex graphics interfaces.

Particular attention is paid to acoustic comfort. Increased glass thickness, multi-layer noise insulation, and the absence of vibrations from the engine create an almost "capsule" feeling inside the salon. At high speeds, the car remains one of the quietest representatives of the segment. The quality of the trim corresponds to the status of the brand's flagship. Natural leather, wood with open pores, aluminum, and complex "atmospheric" lighting with several dozen color scenarios are used.

Riding qualities

Unlike most "classmates," the car stands out for its emphasis on smoothness of ride and comfort during long-distance travel. The pneumatic suspension effectively isolates the salon from minor irregularities, and the long wheelbase helps maintain stability on the highway. Against the background of more emotional "Teslas" or "BMWs," the model offers a different approach — maximally calm movement with an emphasis on comfort, quietness, and a feeling of isolation from the external environment.
