The Mercedes A-Class AMG represents the "charged" version of the popular hatchback. It was first presented in 2000, and, for the most part, these were prototypes that were produced in extremely small quantities. The full-fledged production of the car began in the first half of 2013, almost a year after the debut of the standard hatchback of the third generation.Initial Version
The car presented in 2013 had the index A45 AMG and stood out, first of all, with its power unit. The 2-liter in-line gasoline "four" produced 381 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque. Moreover, a large part of it was available from 2000 rpm. At that time, this engine had the highest specific power among serially produced engines for passenger cars - 187.5 horsepower per liter of volume. The power unit worked in "pair" with a 7-speed pre-selective "robot" and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The set was complemented by a sports suspension. In the cabin, there were also many changes compared to the standard hatchback. First of all, this is a trimmed from the top and bottom steering wheel with combined upholstery and pedals with a polished metal surface. In addition, at the front are "racing" seats from Recaro with separate adjustment of lateral support of the seat and back. The belts remained standard 3-point, but made of red tape. The car of the next generation was created on the basis of the A-Class of the fourth generation and presented in 2018. The difference from the predecessor was the expansion of the line due to the model with the index A 35. It closed the huge gap between the "top" modifications of the standard hatchback and its high-performance version. The version presented in 2018 differed in the engine. This was a forced version of the 2-liter turbocharged engine with the index M260, which, thanks to the use of a 2-channel compressor, "accelerated" to 306 horsepower and 400 Nm. The transmission represented a combination of a 7-speed "robot" AMG Speedshift and a 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. The chassis, in turn, received other levers, original shock absorbers and springs, and as an additional option - the same components with electronic control. The brake system is represented by 4-piston calipers and discs with a diameter of 350 and 330 mm. The body received additional diagonal stretch marks under the hood and an aluminum panel under the engine.A year later, the German brand presented more "angry" modifications with the index A 45/A 45 S. They use a new turbocharged engine M139 with combined fuel injection, a 2-channel turbocharger, and an electronically controlled wastegate. The A 45 uses its standard version with a boost pressure of 1.9 bar, producing 387 horsepower and 480 Nm. For the S-modification, the pressure is increased to 2.1 bar, which allowed "taking" 421 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque from this engine. Moreover, its "working" range ends at 7200 rpm. The power unit works in "pair" with a new pre-selective "robot" with 8 stages, transmitting torque through a modified version of the 4MATIC+ transmission, which differs in the use of two instead of one clutch. The on-board multi-disc clutches are located on each wheel of the rear axle, which made it possible to implement the function of controlling the torque vector. The initial A 35 and A 45 are equipped with 245/40 R18 tires as standard, and the most "angry" S-version is equipped with 245/35 R19 tires.
