The Nissan Roox made its debut in the Japanese brand's production lineup twice. The first time a car with this name appeared was in 2009, representing a copy of the Suzuki Palette kei car from 2008, which differed only in logos and nameplates on the body. In 2013, the model changed its name to Dayz Roox with the new generation. It existed on the assembly line until the beginning of 2020, when, with the release of the third iteration, the car returned to its previous name, despite the lack of technical connection with its predecessors.

Initial Version

The car presented in 2020 was the result of a joint venture with Mitsubishi, NMKV. It retained the concept of previous models, which were microvans belonging to Japanese "kei cars". In terms of length and width, the car fit into strict legislative restrictions, and in terms of height, it significantly surpassed not only them but also most modern crossovers — 1780 mm. It was created on the Mitsubishi eK platform, but in a modified version, with an increased distance between the axles of up to 2495 mm. This made it possible to expand the openings of the rear sliding doors to 650 mm. Additionally, sensors are located under them, which activate their electric drive. In addition to the wide openings, passengers in the second row received a huge amount of space in the leg area, especially if you use the longitudinal seat adjustment, moving them back by 320 mm. Among the additional options, it is worth noting the presence of adaptive "cruise" with the function of keeping the car in the lane and automatic braking, which is activated if the driver confuses the pedals when moving at a low speed.

In technical terms, the microvan turned out to be almost identical to the Mitsubishi eK, being, like this model, strictly limited by regulations. Basic versions were equipped with a 660-cubic centimeter "atmospheric" engine, producing 52 horsepower and 60 Nm, and more expensive ones — its turbocharged version with a maximum possible output of 64 horsepower and 100 Nm. Both power units had a hybrid supplement in the form of a starter-generator, which added 2.7 horsepower and 40 Nm when starting from a place, combining exclusively with a variator, and for a fee — and with all-wheel drive.

Modified Version

In the spring of 2023, the next iteration of the car was released. It differed from its predecessor in a partially revised design, primarily the front part, which was brought into stylistic compliance with other models of the brand. The possibility of choosing from several options of two-tone body color appeared. The interior design remained almost unchanged, except for more expensive versions, which received a waterproof upholstery of all four seats, a display instead of a rearview mirror, on which an image from a camera installed on the fifth door is displayed.
