Nissan Altima is a sedan from the Japanese manufacturer that began its history in 1992. The main markets for sales were the USA, Australia, and the Middle East. After releasing four generations, the model appeared in European countries under the name "Teana".

Beginning

Appearing in 1992, the model was a version for export of the previously released Nissan Bluebird. The car was equipped with a new KA24DE engine, capable of producing 150 horsepower. The salon was designed to accommodate only four people, and the suspension was represented by an independent design with a transverse stabilizer.

L30 is the designation of the body of the second generation, which was created specifically for the American market. The car received a simpler salon, but with improved ergonomics. In its structure, the car did not differ much from the first generation. But a deep restyling in 2000 changed not only the appearance but also the power units. Thus, the engine began to produce 160 horsepower, and the transmission improved. A single headlight unit appeared in the front.

Development

In 2001, production of the third generation began, which was based on the new FF-L platform. The sedan increased in size, which allowed for an expansion of the space in the salon. Under the hood, a 2.5 and 3.5-liter engine were installed. The V6 had a power of 245 horsepower, which provided the car with impressive dynamics. Thanks to this, the number of fans of the model significantly increased, which was reflected in increased sales.

In 2006, the fourth generation started, which was based on the Nissan D platform. As power units, the proven aggregates of the third generation were used, only slightly modernized: VQ35DE with a volume of 3.5 liters and a power of 270 horsepower, and QR25DE with a volume of 2.5 liters and a power of 175 horsepower. The equipment now included a rearview camera, ABS with brake force distribution, Bluetooth, electronic stability control, and more.

Present day

In 2012, a new generation started under the number 5. Its features were two engines with a volume of 2.5 and 3.5 liters, producing 182 and 270 horsepower, respectively. A variator was used as a transmission, which allowed for optimizing fuel consumption while maintaining dynamic characteristics. The sedan became larger in size, approaching the flagship "Maxima", and its weight significantly decreased. This was achieved thanks to the use of aluminum elements. The restyling in 2015 introduced new headlights that became LED, a 5 or 7-inch screen appeared on the central console (depending on the configuration), as well as a number of additional systems.

The latest generation to date appeared in 2018. The car, while maintaining its dimensions, became more vivid and non-trivial. Along with the classic 2.5-liter engine, a version with a 2-liter engine with a turbocharger appeared. Its power was 248 horsepower, and the torque was 370 Nm. Among the features is the presence of all-wheel drive, which the analogs in this segment from other manufacturers could not boast. The transmission was represented only by a variator, and the suspension received a modern design - a multi-link construction at the back and a MacPherson design at the front. The salon of the novelty became more simple and ergonomic, the instrument panel is semi-digital, and an 8-inch touch screen now adorns the front panel.
