The Honda Elysion has been part of the Japanese brand's production lineup since 2004. First Generation

Initially, this model was the Japanese brand's response to the release of premium-class minivans such as the Toyota Alphard and Nissan Elgrand, with a corresponding level of equipment. The car was created on the same platform as the seventh-generation Accord sedan, sharing it with another minivan, the Odyssey. The difference from the latter was the body with an increased roof height, which provided more space inside the cabin. Another of its features was the extensive use of high-strength steel, from which about 30% of the power frame elements were made, as well as the so-called "double" floor, a solution borrowed from the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. As a result, not only the level of passive safety was increased, but also the comfort, since the very rigid body allowed the car to pass over unevenness without the creaks characteristic of many models of the brand in previous years.

An important feature of the model was its equipment with innovative electronic systems. In particular, adaptive cruise control, working in conjunction with a radar in the radiator grille, continuously tracking the distance to the vehicle in front. At night, an image was projected from it onto an 8-inch screen located on the front console in the cabin. Technically, the minivan was largely unified with the Odyssey, except for the engine of the top versions - a 3-liter gasoline V6, which could shut off three of the six cylinders when driving smoothly with a low load.

Second Generation

The car of the next generation was presented in 2015, two years after the production of its predecessor was discontinued. Unlike it, the new product was a "clone" of the Odyssey for the Chinese market, the production of which was carried out at a joint venture with GAC. The new product, however, "settled" at the Donfeng plant, differing in minor changes in the external design - bumpers, a more massive radiator grille, plastic trim on the door handles. Both cars differed in positioning. Elysion was a better-equipped version of the Odyssey, offering more equipment with an almost identical interior design. In particular, the second row of seats consisted of two "captain's" chairs, which, in the top versions, were complemented by folding footrests, heating, and electric recline adjustment, as well as armrests with integrated tables. The "gallery" had a folding mechanism that turned it into picnic seats, where the cushion and backrest changed places.

The engine range after the 2015 update consisted only of a hybrid power unit e.HEV based on a 2-liter "atmospheric" engine with 145 horsepower and 175 Nm of torque, operating according to the Atkinson cycle. It is combined with an electric motor that works as a generator, generating energy for another electric motor, which, in turn, drives the front wheels. At peak loads, it develops 184 horsepower and 315 Nm. At high speeds, a special clutch connects the gasoline engine directly to the wheels, bringing the power of the power plant to 215 horsepower. All these tricks allowed reducing the fuel consumption of a fairly large car to 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers. 18-inch wheels are standard for this minivan.
