Under the hood was a 2-cylinder engine with a volume of 356 "cubes" from the CB450 motorcycle, with a power of 30 hp. It was distinguished from the original version by the presence of a balancing shaft, which reduced the level of noise and vibration to the level of 4-cylinder engines. Subsequently, the power unit was equipped with a water cooling system, which eliminated the problem of extraneous odors in the cabin. The low cost, combined with practicality and fuel efficiency, made the car popular both in the domestic market in Japan and in the countries of Southeast Asia. But the release of the compact Civic radically changed the preferences of buyers, due to which the model was removed from production in 1974.

Second Generation

In 1997, the model was returned to the production range of the Japanese brand, but already in a different capacity. The car was a subcompact minivan that met the requirements for "kei-cars", being a modernized version of the second-generation Today, whose appearance was due to the popularity of the Suzuki Wagon R. With the "original", it was unified in terms of technology, using, in addition to the platform, the engine - a 0.7-liter gasoline "trio" with a power of 48 hp, in combination with a 5-speed manual transmission, or with a 3-range "automatic". For its category, the car was quite well-equipped. Already in the basic version, there were side airbags for the front passengers, a steering wheel with an antibacterial coating, ultraviolet-absorbing glasses, and an anti-lock braking system.

Third Generation

In 1998, the third-generation car was released. Many of its features were due to changes in Japan's tax legislation. In particular, the model retained the side panels of the previous body, but at the same time became significantly wider and slightly longer, increasing the level of passive safety. Already in the standard equipment, there were side airbags for the front passengers. The increased dimensions made it possible to expand the engine range. As before, under the hood was a 0.7-liter engine from the predecessor, which underwent a cycle of modernization, increasing traction in the low-rev range by 20%. As an alternative, a version of it with a turbocharger was offered, developing a maximum allowed 65 hp. The equipment has significantly expanded. The most expensive versions offered climate control and a CD player, keyless entry, and 13-inch alloy wheels.

Fourth Generation

Sales of the fourth-generation car started in 2003. It differed from the predecessor by a thoroughly redesigned body, which lost any straight edges. In the "power frame", much more high-strength steel was used, which, in particular, made it possible to significantly reduce the width of the front pillars. Next to them, additional triangular glasses appeared, improving lateral visibility. In technical terms, the key innovation was the appearance of a newly developed 660 "cubic" gasoline engine with two spark plugs per cylinder and variable ignition timing of the fuel-air mixture. The power unit worked in "pair" with a 4-speed automatic transmission without any alternatives.

Fifth Generation

In the fall of 2008, the fifth-generation car was released. In essence, it was a modified version of the predecessor, from which the new product differed only in body panels and interior design. In technical terms, both cars were maximally unified, having only a few differences, in particular, the ECO button, which activates a special engine and transmission operating mode, reducing fuel consumption. In addition, the platform was modernized, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the car by 40 kg.

Sixth Generation

In 2020, the Japanese brand presented a car of the sixth iteration. It was one of the versions of the hatchback Jazz for the Chinese market, being produced at the Dongfeng Honda joint venture. It differed from the original model, first of all, in terms of equipment - only two versions were left in the line: Sport and Crosstar with aggressive plastic trim. Another difference was the significantly reduced possibilities for transforming the salon. It is worth noting the engine range. In contrast to the global version, only an "atmospheric" engine with a volume of 1.5 liters of the EarthDreams family with a power of 131 hp was installed under the hood, which could only be combined with a variator.
