Second Generation

In 1990, the second-generation sedan debuted. It differed from its predecessor with a fundamentally revised body design featuring more streamlined shapes and an extended trunk lid. As before, the line consisted of a sedan and a 2-door coupe. There were no fewer changes in the equipment. First of all, this is a steering system with variable effort depending on the speed of movement, heated front seats and rearview mirrors. Technically, the car was largely unified with its predecessor. Perhaps the only difference was the disc brake mechanisms on all wheels.

Third Generation

The third-generation sedan appeared in 1996. It was a copy of the Acura RL, which debuted on the North American market. The car again differed radically in body design from its predecessor, while preserving key stylistic features, especially in the front part, which stood out with a single block of headlights and a trapezoidal radiator grille. Technically, the sedan was distinguished by the longitudinal arrangement of the 3.5-liter engine, which was installed precisely along the line of the cardan shaft. This made it possible to significantly improve handling and reduce the turning radius. The engine worked in tandem with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The chassis was distinguished by the presence of shock absorbers with variable compression force and bushings with fluid-filled cavities.

Fourth Generation

The next-generation sedan, presented in 2005, was essentially a modified version of its predecessor, nevertheless offering a number of important innovations. First of all, this is a more aggressive exterior design with finally disappeared body disproportions, distinguished by much better aerodynamic efficiency. Technically, an important change was the appearance of a new 3.5-liter V6 engine with a cylinder arrangement at an angle of 60 degrees, and not 90, like its predecessor. The 300-horsepower power unit was combined with a 5-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift control. However, all this paled in comparison with the all-wheel drive system SH-AWD, previously tested in the Honda Prelude. Such a transmission was distinguished by its ability to supply up to 70% of the power to the rear axle, and then distribute it individually to each wheel up to 100%. This made it possible to implement the function of thrust vectoring, getting rid of insufficient maneuverability.

The equipment was again expanded due to new options. First of all, this is a keyless entry system, an upgraded Bose audio system with a DVD player, active noise cancellation, and a 260-watt subwoofer, multimedia with voice control and satellite navigation.

Fifth Generation

In 2012, the fifth-generation sedan debuted, this time becoming a copy of the Acura RLX. The similarity with it largely distinguished the car from other Japanese brand cars, especially due to the design of the front part, where the "signature" 5-angled radiator grille was absent. The list of trim levels was reduced to one, which included a complex of driver assistance systems with adaptive cruise control and automatic braking. The key difference from the American version was the engine range, which included only a hybrid powerplant. Its basis was a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, which underwent another cycle of modernization, after which its power was 314 horsepower, and torque - 371 Nm. It worked in tandem with three electric motors. A 48-horsepower unit rotated the front axles, and two 37-horsepower units were attached individually to each of the rear wheels, implementing the function of thrust vectoring.
