The car, which debuted in 2020, was created on the basis of the standard version of the 5-door Jazz hatchback of the fourth generation. Visually, it differs from other representatives of this line with black plastic protective elements encircling the lower part of the body, as well as roof rails and an increased ground clearance, ensured by the use of tires with a higher profile.

The salon stood out with a design largely borrowed from the brand's new electric vehicles at the time. The display of the instrument panel and the steering wheel were borrowed from them. The previous models, in turn, "shared" the proprietary system for transforming the salon, differing in the ability not only to fold the rear sofa, forming a flat floor, but also its cushion separately, which allowed placing a bulky cargo vertically. In the lineup of versions, Crosstar occupied one of the highest positions. Its standard equipment included a multimedia system with a WiFi router and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay technologies, as well as a complex of electronic assistants with adaptive "cruise", lane keeping, and automatic braking. In technical terms, the car stood out for the use of exclusively hybrid power units, consisting of an in-line gasoline "four" with a volume of 1.5 liters, developing 98 hp and 127 Nm, working according to the Atkinson cycle, to which two electric motors were added. One of them was used as a generator, being connected to the internal combustion engine, being a source of direct current for the second electric motor, which, during peak loads, directed up to 109 hp and 253 Nm to the front wheels. The operating scheme of this power unit implied its operation at low speeds exclusively on electric traction, i.e., in essence, most of the time. As the speed increased, the gasoline engine was connected to the front wheels through a clutch. Standard for this car are alloy wheels and tires with a mounting diameter of 16 inches.
