    Шины на Honda Passport (Хонда)

The Honda Passport debuted in the Japanese brand's production lineup in 1993, representing a classic off-road vehicle on a frame platform, existing in this form until 2002, after which its production was discontinued without a direct successor. The return to the model lineup took place in 2018, but already as a mid-size crossover, primarily intended for the North American market.

    First Generation

The car presented in 1993 was a copy of the Isuzu Rodeo, becoming part of a partnership agreement concluded between the two Japanese companies in the early 1990s, under which a model exchange took place. By that time, Isuzu had stopped producing passenger cars, switching completely to off-road vehicles and commercial equipment. In turn, Honda was in dire need of an off-road vehicle, which was rapidly gaining popularity in North America in the early 1990s. As a result, their choice fell on the popular Rodeo, which after renaming became known as the Passport, having minor differences in exterior design and noticeable ones in equipment. The base DX version offered a combination of a 2.6-liter "atmospheric" 4-cylinder engine, a 5-speed manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive. At the "medium" level, a 4-range "automatic", a four-wheel drive system with mechanical front axle engagement, and a 3.2-liter V6 gasoline engine producing 175 hp were optionally available. The key feature of this model, distinguishing this version of the Rodeo from the "original", was the non-split rear axle. The base versions used components from General Motors, and the all-wheel drive modifications used components from Dana.

    Second Generation

The car of the next generation debuted in 1997, again becoming one of the versions of the Isuzu Rodeo, but already of the current generation at that time. It differed from its predecessor not only in exterior design but also in significantly improved equipment and interior materials, especially in the top-end EX-L trim, where natural leather seat upholstery and a 2-color interior design were offered. In addition, the engine range consisted of only one engine - a 3.2-liter V6 gasoline engine.

    Third Generation

In 2018, the Japanese brand introduced the third-generation car, 16 years after the previous model was discontinued. This time it was a mid-size crossover, created on the same platform as the more spacious Passport, having the same styling features and identical body parts. It was a shortened version of it, lacking a third row of seats. In other respects, the interior fully replicated the "original". Technically, both cars turned out to be almost identical to each other. The suspension was perhaps the only difference, which increased the ground clearance.

    Fourth Generation

The car presented in the fall of 2024 still belonged to mid-size crossovers but significantly changed its concept, adding extended off-road capabilities to it. Moreover, this was reflected in the exterior design, which became more brutal due to the angular design of the front part and unpainted bumpers and plastic trim around the body. The TrailSport version had a factory steel engine protection from the bottom. In technical terms, there were no fewer changes, as the car "moved" to a modified platform from its predecessor, increasing the distance between the axles by 71 mm due to the shift of the front axle closer to the front bumper edge, increasing the approach angle to 23 degrees. The clearance of the crossover increased to 211 mm, and this applied to all versions. Under the hood is a 3.5-liter "atmospheric" V6 with an output of 289 hp and 355 Nm. It works in "pair" with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Even the base versions have the proprietary all-wheel-drive system i-VTM4 with an individual clutch on the rear wheels. Another significant innovation was the appearance in the chassis of forged suspension arms and cast iron steering knuckles, and their settings were selected based on ensuring maximum efficiency off-road.

The interior stands out for its combination of minimalist style and conservatism. It features instrument panel displays and a multimedia system, surrounded by a decent number of physical buttons and handles. The standard equipment includes a 12-channel Bose audio system, along with 10 cup holders and a shelf in the luggage compartment that transforms into a picnic table. For most versions, 18-inch wheels and tires are standard. The exception is the TrailSport crossover modification, which is offered with high-profile General Grabber tires with an outer diameter of 31 inches. Such tires, among other wheel products, can be found in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
