The subcompact crossover Honda WR-V was first introduced in 2017. The main markets for its sales were the countries of South America and India. Generation 1

The crossover was developed by the joint efforts of engineers from the Japanese and Brazilian centers of the company. Its basis was not only the platform but also the main elements (body, doors, interior elements, etc.) from Fit/Jazz. In fact, it was a modified hatchback with a clearance of 188 mm, which stood out for its sporty exterior. This factor determined its orientation towards the young generation of developing countries.

In the engine compartment, two types of engines were installed: a 1.2-liter gasoline engine, developing 89 hp and 110 Nm, as well as a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, producing 99 hp and 200 Nm at its peak. The first one was paired with a 5-speed, and the second with a 6-speed "mechanics". These engines had already been tested for strength in the "Jazz" model. Also, over time, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine from "Fit" began to be installed.

Generation 2

The novelty has now moved to the Indonesian representation. It was presented in 2022. The previously produced Amaze model was taken as the basis, from which many body and interior elements were transferred to the crossover, including the instrument panel. The car received more modern equipment, including a multimedia center with a touch screen. Its dimensions also increased in favor of the useful space of the salon. In addition, the clearance became 220 cm. Under the hood, only one 1.5-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine was now installed, developing 119 hp and 145 Nm. As is customary for the Japanese manufacturer, the power unit reached its peak power at high revs - 6600. Initially, the model was only equipped with a variator, but a year later, versions with a 6-position mechanical gearbox appeared.

In 2024, a new version of the WR-V appeared in Japan, which is nothing more than a renamed Elevate model. Moreover, the car is assembled in India and shipped to many countries around the world. This is already a mid-size crossover with a rich set of options typical of Japanese automotive.
