The Honda Amaze appeared in the production range of the Japanese brand in 2013. The subcompact sedan is currently the smallest model outside of Japan. In all generations, its length was less than 4 meters. The car is designed primarily for countries in Southeast Asia and India.

First Generation

The sedan, which debuted in 2013, was created based on the 5-door hatchback Brio, borrowing from it most of the body panels, as well as almost all mechanical units and components. The exception was the 4-cylinder diesel engine with a turbocharger with a volume of 1.5 liters, which was created specifically for this model. The power unit with the i-DTEC index was a modified version of the in-line gasoline "four" with a volume of 1.6 liters N16A1 from the European version of the Civic. The reduction in displacement was due to the Indian legislation in force at that time, which provided significant tax benefits for car owners with a length of less than 4 meters with engines up to 1.5 liters. Other features worth noting include the use of a Honeywell turbocharger and low weight. At that time, it was the lightest engine in its class. Until 2016, the engines worked in tandem with a 5-speed "mechanics" or with a hydro-mechanical "automatic" with the same number of switching ranges. Second Generation

In the winter of 2018, the next-generation sedan debuted. Unlike its predecessor, the car was developed in the Thai division of the Japanese company. This had a positive impact on the exterior, which lost its previously unaesthetic appearance. Something had to be sacrificed. Trying to make the car less than 4 meters long, the designers made the overhangs as short as possible, reducing the length of both bumpers and making the front and rear parts vertical. This allowed to increase the space in the salon, which is one of the key advantages of this model. The relatively large capacity was supplemented by extensive equipment for its class, which included climate control, "cruise", multimedia system with a touch screen, folding armrest with cup holders on the second row. Under the hood, the engines from the previous model were still located, including the 1.5-liter diesel, which could now be combined with a belt variator. But at the same time, its power was reduced from the initial 100 "horses" in the version with mechanics to 80 hp.

In 2021, the car underwent a planned modernization, which mainly affected the appearance. The sedan got a new radiator grille, both bumpers, chrome-plated coating of some elements, and for the "middle" and higher trim levels - LED headlights and "fog lights", along with rear lights. Similarly, the interior of the sedan was changed, which also acquired decorative elements with chrome and silver coating.
