The Honda N-WGN Custom debuted in autumn 2013. The car is a classic "kei car" designed exclusively for the domestic Japanese market. The word Custom in the name was applied to "sports" versions, which differed in a more aggressive exterior design.

First Generation

The car presented in 2013 was part of the so-called N-line, differing from its other representatives in the concept of use. It was a subcompact minivan with increased space in the cabin due to the greater height of the body. In the half-hidden under the windshield engine compartment, a 0.6-liter inline gasoline "trio" was located, which in the base versions developed 58 hp. Top versions were equipped with its turbocharged version, which developed 64 hp, the maximum allowed from the point of view of Japanese legislation. Second Generation

In 2019, the next-generation car debuted. It retained the initial concept, differing from its predecessor in a brightly expressed retro-style in the exterior design. The decision was borrowed from the "soplatiform" N-box, which, starting from 2017, was among the bestsellers of the Japanese market. From the standard version, the car again differed in a more aggressive bumper design and a massive radiator grille with chrome elements. They could be supplemented with a styling package from Mugen, which included plastic decor along the lower edge of the body, as well as a spoiler with two "fins" on the upper edge of the trunk lid.

In turn, the salon was distinguished by a 4-seat layout, as well as the presence of a steering wheel position adjustment, both in height and in extension, which was done for the first time in the history of the entire N-line. With the presence of standard solutions in terms of transformation, the luggage compartment was a bright spot, divided into two levels with a special panel, which, if necessary, could be removed. When installed, access to the lower compartment was only through the trunk lid. Another important feature of the standard equipment was the Honda Sensing complex of electronic assistants with adaptive "cruise", automatic braking, and the ability to recognize pedestrians and cyclists even in the dark.

The engine range was fully borrowed from the previous model, consisting of two versions of one 0.6-liter engine, differing in power. The base versions offered an "atmospheric" engine developing 58 hp, and the top versions with a turbocharger - a maximum of 64 hp. Both engines were combined with a modernized belt variator, which in the most dynamic modifications had paddle shifters and 7-speed switching simulation. Technical differences were also present in the versions with front and all-wheel drive. The presence of a clutch on the rear axle was possible only when using the De Dion rear suspension. In front-wheel drive versions, a classic semi-dependent beam was used instead. Despite the external "sportiness", the car implies the use of universal "highway" tires, which are more suitable for urban conditions.
