The Ford Territory debuted in Australia in the spring of 2004, representing a mid-size crossover designed for the domestic market of this country. Australian version

The car is notable for being developed exclusively by Ford's Australian division. This was the first time on this continent, as well as the creation of a large crossover with a three-row layout. Over four years, the costs of implementing this project amounted to 500 million Australian dollars, which was even at that time considered cheap, not like Japanese automakers, but significantly less than their colleagues from Detroit. Much of this was due to unification with the full-size Falcon sedan, with which the new crossover shared a platform and most technical components. After the start of serial production of the "Territory", the bosses at Ford Australia expected a decline in sales of the wagon, but this did not happen. The majority of crossover buyers were families with two or more children. For the rest, it seemed too large, heavy, and consuming a large amount of fuel. The car turned out to be heavy, which led to the use of corresponding engines. Initially, it was equipped with an in-line gasoline "six" Barra with a volume of 4 liters, with a power of 244 liters. s. in a "pair" with a 4-speed "automatic" with a consumption of 14 to 18 liters per 100 km. After numerous complaints from dealers and buyers, a diesel V6 with a volume of 2.7 liters was installed, and the automatic transmission had 6 ranges. Chinese version

In 2018, the model name was returned, but with a different car. It became a compact crossover, a copy of the Chinese JMC Yusheng S330, presented in 2016, a model that did not gain significant sales in the domestic market. The motive for this decision was the desire of the brand from China to load production at a joint venture with Ford and compensate for development costs. In turn, the American company with minimal costs expanded its model range, filling the gap that appeared after the compact Kuga became richer and more prestigious. To transform into a "Territory", the Chinese crossover changed the front end and lighting, while keeping the hood and body side panels unchanged. The salon has the same layout as before. Ford designers replaced all decorative elements, steering wheel, buttons, handles, adding a dashboard display and a tablet with their multimedia system. In addition, the equipment includes a complex of electronic "assistants" Co-Pilot360 with automatic braking, lane keeping, switching between "far" and "near" light, rear view camera and "blind" spot control.

In technical terms, the crossover also turned out to be "Chinese". The car is equipped with a turbocharged in-line "four" with a volume of 1.5 liters, renamed Ecoboost, with a power of 145 liters. s.
