Ford Figo – a compact hatchback that was produced by Ford's subsidiary in India. The model was introduced in 2009 and was produced for emerging markets (South Africa, Mexico, Middle East) until 2021, going through 2 generations.

Generation 1

The car was based on the fifth generation Ford Fiesta, but with modified front and rear parts. At the same time, the model received a more compact body, which did not lead to a significant change in the interior space. Depending on the markets, 3 variants of gasoline engines with 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6 liters, as well as one diesel engine with 1.4 liters, were installed under the hood. A manual transmission worked in pair with them, and for the 1.6-liter version, a 5-position automatic transmission was also available. In terms of equipment, the hatchback was quite modest. Only in the top versions did ABS and ESP systems appear. This negatively affected the safety level, which according to some tests was equal to 0.
The drive was only front-wheel, and the braking system consisted of rear drum and front disc brakes.

Generation 2

In 2014, a new generation was presented, which became available to consumers in 2015. Its basis was the platform used in the Ford Ka. Moreover, the car was not only a hatchback but also a sedan. New engines were installed under the hood. The least powerful was a 1.2-liter engine with 88 horsepower, which was complemented by a 5-position manual transmission. A 1.5-liter gasoline engine produced 112 horsepower, and its pair was a 6-stage Dual-clutch transmission. The diesel engine, as before, was available in a single version – 1.5 liters with 100 horsepower.
The suspension of the new version was equipped with MacPherson struts with stabilizers in the front and a semi-independent transverse beam with gas-filled shock absorbers in the rear.
Among the equipment features, we can note 6 airbags (in the top configuration), as well as the MyFord system for charging mobile devices, through which navigation was also implemented.

The production of the model was completed in 2021. But on some markets, it was still present for several years. Although the car was not officially supplied to the RF, the number of its units on our roads continued to grow. This is largely due to the low price and relatively reliable power units.
