Tires on Ford Ranger (Форд)

A small pickup from Ford called Ranger was produced from 1987 to 2012. The car later became the basis for the creation of other models of the American manufacturer.

First Generation

The company sought to create an analogue of the F-series, but in a more compact and less resource-intensive form. As a result, the Ford Ranger appeared, which, despite its small size, was able to transport loads of the same size as its older "brothers". This was achieved thanks to the special body shape and, in particular, the organization of the space between the axles. Two petrol engines with a capacity of 2 and 2.3 liters, as well as two diesel engines with a capacity of 2.2 and 2.8 liters, were used as power units. In 1986, a modification with Super-cab was released, which, in addition to the standard salon, had a spacious trunk behind the seats.

In 1989, a facelift was carried out, which modified the headlights, hood, front wings, and bumper. A new dashboard appeared in the salon, and the selector of the automatic transmission was moved to the steering column. There were also changes in the power units. The most significant of them was the appearance of a V6 engine with a capacity of 4 liters.

Second Generation

The 2nd generation started in 1993. The pickup got a new look. At the same time, the layout of the main elements remained unchanged. Among the engines, options with a capacity of 2, 2.3, and 4 liters were left. The transmission was offered either as a mechanical or 4-speed automatic. Throughout the entire period of existence, the car underwent gradual modernization. More airbags appeared in it, a two-din radio, the brakes were replaced with more efficient ones. The power units also underwent changes, in pair with which a five-speed automatic worked.

In 1998 and 2004, the car underwent changes in its appearance. More modern engines with increased power and reduced fuel consumption began to be installed in it. All this made it a strong "middle class".

Third Generation

In 2011, the manufacturer released an updated "Ranger", which was built on the new T6 platform. The model retained its body features, but acquired more modern equipment, including improved safety.

Fourth Generation

Not so long ago, in 2022, Ford introduced an updated Ranger, which is based on the universal T6 platform (but with some improvements), the same as the VW Amarok. In essence, this is already a universal car that is equally suitable for both city driving and off-road work.
