Black ice under snow is like summer tires in winter. You can drive in winter exclusively on dry asphalt. Otherwise, only studded tires.

I bought two Goodyear UltraGrip Ice SUV 285/60 R18 tyres two days ago, after choosing them based on reviews from other owners and test results. I ordered them in advance. When they were delivered to the tyre shop from the warehouse, I was surprised by how soft the sidewalls were - they felt like a cloth. Not exactly a shock, but certainly not ideal:). I asked the tyre technician if this was normal, and he replied that he didn't know.
