Mitsubishi Colt is a series of compact passenger cars that were, in turn, an export version of the Mirage model. It was produced from 1978 to 2002 as a standalone model, and from 2008 to 2013 as a copy of the Smart Fortour.History of creation
The appearance of this model is due to the fuel crisis that broke out in 1973. Five years later, the brand presented a compact 3-door hatchback with 1.3 and 1.4 liter engines. The latter was equipped with a system that automatically turned off two of the four cylinders at idle, reducing fuel consumption. The engines worked in conjunction with the Super Shift transmission, which converted a 4-speed manual transmission into an 8-speed one due to the possibility of switching between "low" and "high" ranges of gear ratios. The non-trivial solution was due to the fact that the manufacturer did not have a 5-speed "mechanics". But this led to a number of unique engineering solutions, one of which was the placement of the transmission under the engine using an additional shaft, through which the second gear lever was connected in the cabin. The scenario for using these mechanisms assumed the inclusion of the "lower" range during intense acceleration, and the "upper" range during uniform movement to save fuel. At that time, this was a unique offer, and not only in its segment. Later, such a transmission was replaced with a classic solution with 5 steps and a 3-range "automatic". Among other design features of the car, it is worth noting the independent suspension on all four wheels, steering on the "rack" and front disc brakes. Six months after the start of sales, the lineup was supplemented with a 5-door hatchback, which differed not only in the number of doors but also in the increased wheelbase. The car remained in serial production until 1989, after which its production was discontinued without continuation.Second generation
In the fall of 2002, the Japanese brand presented a compact car with the old name on the domestic market. Structurally, it was the Smart Forfour, developed by Olivier Boulay, but with an exterior design that corresponded to Mitsubishi's corporate style at that time. As a European analogue, it was offered only with one body type - a 5-door hatchback. A version with three doors appeared in 2005 and was available only in European countries. The engine range consisted of inline petrol "fours" with a volume of 1.1, 1.3, and 1.5 liters of its own design, later supplemented with a turbocharged version of the 1.5-liter engine with an additional 30 hp. It was also used to create the "charged" version of the Forfour from Brabus. In the fall of 2004, a modification with a 1.5-liter diesel engine with a turbocharger and an intercooler with a power of 95 hp of its own design appeared. Optionally, it could be combined with an automated "mechanics" Allshift, in which 6 steps were switched using an electrohydraulic drive. In 2005, a convertible coupe with a hard folding roof was presented, which was equipped with an "atmospheric" petrol engine with a volume of 1.5 liters, or its turbocharged version. Despite the long time since the serial production was discontinued, a significant number of copies of this model remain on the move, occasionally found on domestic roads. Tires and wheel disks for them are presented in a wide range in the online store "Mosavtoshina".Advantages of selecting tires for Mitsubishi Colt on our website:
